I think that a reconceptualization of the Astartes that might interest me is if each chapter was more unique in style, combat tactics, armor, weapons, etc. For example, one chapter wears light armor and is super fast. Another chapter is the reverse, they are all basically terminators. With Blood Angels, if we go with the vampire theme, focus more on their supernatural physical prowess, their thirst for blood, maybe regeneration or something. Not just red armor. With Chaos Astartes they could go even more wild - Alpha Legion could be all stealthy models, no power armor as we normally recognize it. Some chapters are a bit more unique in that regard and they are cooler for it, in my opinion.

Of course, one might say that we already have stealthy armies or what ever niche I want Astartes to fill. That is true, and I am often more interested in those other factions. I wouldn’t expect GW to make such changes except in subtle ways.

In some regard, what I am asking for is likely too much of a thematic change to be practical, since the Astartes originated from a common design in the fluff.

I have no interest in Astartes having children, unless they were really heavily thematically changed, I don’t think it would make sense.

I’m also not crying, just stating my opinion of Astartes and 40K. I’m not making threads about how GW is bigoted or anything, I’m just expressing my personal feelings. I just happen to find other factions with the 40K setting more interesting.

Yeah, the campaign has interesting potential for that. I was thinking it might be cool to use a wiki to describe the sector we’re in, the major movers and shakers there, our important characters, and how the results of various battles change things.
That is what I and the group I play with do. Every battle is a narrative battle. I used my friends grey knights against my other friends voidborne

So decided to finally get into Warhammer 40k and picked up a box of Start Collecting: Skitarii along with a Tech-Priest Enginseer. Gonna use the skitarii rangers in the box for a Kill-Team and start building up a collection until I can join the rest at the FLGS with their 2000 point meta.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of making a mainly infantry focused army. Lots of rangers and vanguards with a squad of Infiltrators so I can deep strike them in and spray lead everywhere. Three Dunecrawlers as artillery, maybe like, three dragoons as well. Cawl as a given and maybe a Kastellan or four. Depends.

I'm not sure. Anyone here play AdMech?

I do, though I'm very behind on construction. I'd recommend having a mix of multiple Dragoons and Ironstriders, as they have the Skitarii keyword and Broad-Spectrum Data-Tethers, so they get quite a lot of benefit from the Protector and Conqueror Doctrina Imperative Stratagems.

Also, being a Gunline army, it's important to screen your shooty units to keep people from charging them, and making them unable to shoot (and the enemy unit unable to be shot). Dragoons have nice big bases for this purpose, as well as being melee units themselves, if you leave them with the Taser Lance. Having units available to counter-charge is also helpful, which means you may want some additional Infiltrators held back rather than deep striked, or alternately some cheaper Ruststalkers; since you're explicitly reserving them as an anti-melee force, being able to also shoot is less important.

It also might be worth picking up a Skorpius Disintegrator or two. The Belleros energy cannon mount is the AdMech's only non-Line-of-Sight gun (unless you get into Forge World stuff), which depending on how much LOS-blocking terrain gets used at your FLGS, might be useful. It's also good at mulching MEQs, even without needing to worry about LOS. Also, while I haven't seen much sign of the Skorpius Dunerider being used as an actual transport, 12 Cognis Heavy Stubber shots is pretty stupendous on Overwatch or going T4 or less Infantry/Swarm hunting.

So here at AIT. A couple of guys here are starting to get into 40k tabletop. One guy just bought a box set of dark imperium and another will be getting a tau army next week when we get paid. I just bought some astra militarium and tempestus scions for an army. I will be making them and everything while I am here. They should arrive in the mail on tuesday

What did you get for your army? Dark Imperium (or at least the imperial half of DI) is in a pretty solid place right now, so it's a good starter army for once.

The guy who got that is going to build blood Angel's. I got astra militarum and astra tempestus. I an building a combined army.
I already have a mixture if both back home so I can add those to what I jave.

So I ordered the codex and two chimeras. I should be able to build a decent sized and points army with what I have.
I have a guy building necrons and space marines and possibly tau.
All of us spending nearly 300 dollars

Anti-Grav Land Raider?!?!?!(y)

Well, that's what I call it and what it's supposed to look like, rule-wise it's just a LR helios and on the model end it's just a repulsor with land raider sponsons added on.

Yeah, you read that right. Games Workshop and Marvel are collaborating to create Warhammer comics! Even better, the first comics are due to land in autumn 2020. Yeah, we know – it’s super rad.

As everyone knows,* Marvel Comics are the name behind many of the world’s best-loved super hero characters (you know, like Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four). With more than 80 years of comics experience, Marvel has built an amazing reputation for bringing together the best comic book writers and artists to forge stories that span generations. It’s not for nothing that Marvel has cemented itself as a household name.

Welp, those comics be screwed unless GW keeps an eye on those writers and artists.

How much do you bet there's going to be LGBT propaganda with "Slaanesh isn't THAT bad, y'know"?

That's not terribly likely, GW is not going to give marvel enough creative control for that to happen. The worst case scenario is we get some kind forgettable to poor story but it's drawn like squirrel girl or something.

That would result in 4chan joking the comic with "Slaanesh or Tzeetch must have gotten to this group and mutated them."

Thats what I'm hoping for. Though you never know. GW could be trying to go mainstream to get the wider audience.

I'm not sure if that's the goal, vs just appealing to thier current audience, since the general reaction thus far has been "eh, this could be really bad if they fuck it up, but it might be cool" rather than "this is dumb, who asked for this, I don't want it, etc", like how people reacted to the 40k kids books. 40k is, as nerd stuff goes, already fairly mainstream, and if you're in any part of the tabletop hobby you've probably already heard of it.
