He's a rightwing academic, in a normal political environment he would write a few books, have a few obscure fans mostly former students live a life of quiet study and be forgotten after he passed on.
Thing is the world went god damned crazy and that propelled him into national prominence because so many voices have been silenced. In a normal world he would be a nobody but we don't live in a normal world anymore.
