Congratulation the ROB has picked you and only you to be the head negro in charge of Starfleet ship construction and planning. It is the year 2350 and Starfleet is considering production of the Galaxy Class Starship. They are all overjoyed at the plans of this ship however you have knowledge of Future events and you get to veto their recommendation. You get to propose another class of vessel instead and you have the final say these are your choices.

The Valiant Class Starship. This pint sized vessel is the natural evolution of the Future Defiant Class. Boasting more advanced weapons and with all the bugs the Defiant class had ironed out. This ship will secure federation space for decades to come. While not a large vessel you can build a shit ton of them immediately. With your production being 200 vessels by the year 2360.

The Pathfinder Class Science ship: This plucky vessel is and exploration workhorse. It has very advanced sensors. A high cruising speed of around Warp 9.8. And boost weapons that will allow it to preform in the roll of a front line combat vessels. This class of ship can only be made in the numbers of around 100.

The Andromeda Class Exploration Cruiser: You took a look at the designs for the Galaxy Class and furrowed your brow. You then threw those plans in the trash can and pulled out theses schematics. The Andromeda is basically a non glass cannon Galaxy class with better weapons. Better overall endurance at warp and Front line combat capabilites. Ideal for First contact missions and diplomacy missions. Due to it's size being slightly larger than the Galaxy Class it can only be built in the numbers of 75 vessels

The Yamato Class Dreadnought: This is a more up gunned version of the Andromeda class. While it can do all of the missions the Andromeda Class can do. It is a more aggressive leaning ship. Very suitable for Gunboat Diplomacy. A Frontline powerhouse this ship can both dish out and take heavy damage. It's Phaser lance weapon is rated in being able to shoot through both the shields and hull of most Alpha and Beta Quadrant forces Capital Ships. Due to the added features of the Yamato Class you can only make 50 of them

The Yorktown Class Starcruiser: This is the natural evolution of what we started in the 22nd Century when Starfleet first began to explore the galaxy. The Yorktown is designed for very long deep space missions. It can remain out far away from Federation space for over two decades. A massive ship that can conduct Scientific, Diplomatic and front line combat missions. It carries a smaller starship known as the Aquarious class that can assist the Yorktown in it's missions. Unlike the other ships listed it has an advanced propulsion drive in addition to it's warp drive called a Quantum Slipstream drive. This drive system allows the ship to exceed normal warp speed making it the only vessel listed that can get to the Delta Quadrant in a few months time. Due to it's advanced nature and bleeding edge technology we can only make 25 of these vessels.

The Vengeance Class Dreadnought. Ok Ok hear me out. We have faced many adversaries over the years. The Klingons, The Romulans the Tholians etc. And we have either been slightly on the winning end or getting our asses handed to us. This ship is what it is. It is a pure warship it does only one thing. Defeat the enemy. This Behemoth of a ship is nearly a mile long and is designed to flat out outgun all of the major powers in this sector of space. It is a Fleet Killer. It can go toe to toe with any of our rivals and come out the victor. Featuring advanced combat and propulsion systems {Classified} It will provide the Federation with a class of ship that will keep our citizens safe and deter all would be adversaries from attacking us. Due to it's size and classified technology we can only make 10 of these vessels. But it will be money well spent.

While you are tempted to pick more than one of these classes of ships. Due to resource limits and shipyard production space. We can only commit to one and only one of these classes of ship for the time being. So make your choice wisely and give Starfleet a great vessel.

Special Note: The classes of ship listed have technology from the early 25th Century. The ROB has gifted you this tech and has handwaved away the Temporal Agents of the Future, Section 31 and has threatened to Thanos Finger snap the Q Continnium if they even look at you wrong. You have a free hand to choose the class of starship that will be the face of the Federation through the 2360s into the 2380s. After 2370 you can start producing the other classes listed but you are restricted to one class for the first 20 years.

I will choose the Yorktown Class Star Cruiser. It is a great vessel and will allow the Starfleet to do very deep exploration missions.

I'm picking the Andromeda class ship since we'll need numbers to defend the Federation and explore at the same time and moreover since its quite large we'll be expanding our infrastructure to accommodate them which will in turn enable us to build Yamatos,Valiants, and Pathfinders with ease once we're allowed to and lay the groundwork for the construction of the larger classes

Congratulations. You have insured that the new Enterprise D will not be a Glass cannon. First Contact with the Borg will go way different. With the Enterprise D completely Destroying that Borg Cube and Q will be cursing under his breath about 25th Century Tech Boost. Picard and Crew will have a much more safer time with next to no shield dropping to 20% and no Warp Core Breaches in progress. Which means the E will more than likely end up being a Yorktown class.

I think Pathfinder, it seems to be rather balanced. @Sailor.X I'd wager that also means Q gets trolled? The Enterprise would scoot away from the Borg going Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk! and possibly give them a metaphorical eye poke? Or not?

Ah yes the infamous Curly Maneuver. Handy for trolling and making fun of your enemy. And yes Q will be trolled hard in this timeline.

I put the Valiant class into production first. Build a lot of them. I next put into production of Andromeda and Pathfinder class with some Yamatos for Dreadnoughts. Finally put in the Production of the Yorktown class.

That will make the Romulans a lot less smug when they realize they can get Yeeted by a thousand cuts.

Let's just hope the Valiants aren't going to be used as explorers in such a plan. I assume we'll use the Excelsiors and Ambassadors(refitted with 25th century technology) as our exploration vessels until we're allowed to build bigger ships. There's a reason why I picked the Andromeda class.

Remember the Ambassador Class is only 20 years old and they are still in service. So the heavy explorer ships are already in service.

I'd have to go for the Vengeance. I'm a sucker for super heavies. Armour, more armour and an extra side of armour for me please.

Though I think the name Vengeance doesn't really suit the Federation mindset though. Something like Implacable, Hurricane or Stalwart would suit it better.

Oh and I think you're too mean to the Galaxy class, when it first encountered the Borg Cube and freed itself, it's phaser arrays punched some pretty large holes into the Cube.

True but building a Valiant is going to take mere months when we can build them circa 2370(which is also when the Dominion and Borg are becoming serious problems)so it makes sense to be something that we cannot build in a hurry but also can build enough of hence the Andromeda class

Actually HMS Vengeance (S31) - Wikipedia It fits perfectly with Federation naming convention when it comes to naming ships after past vessels.

Say are we allowed to fill in the giant hole in the middle of the Vengeance class's Sauser section with all sorts of stuff and in doing so remove a big structural weakpoint?

That is where the mass Shuttle Bays are.

I'd wager that Voyager as a series would be moot?
Yep being that the Pathfinder can Quantum Slipstream. It just can't do it as long as the Yorktown Class can.

That also means no warp Ten lizards, so we don't have to pretend it never happened.
Warp 10 Lizards??? Never heard of it. I remember having a fever dream when I was drunk back during the 90s about such a thing. but I was drunk and groggy. Nothing that dumb could have possibly made it to tv.

It was a nightmare born from the darkest reaches of the human collective unconsciousness- a monster from the Id.

I'm assuming we got well armed drone attack craft to make that worthwhile? Otherwise we could probably add around a dozen phaser arrays and a bunch of VLS torpedo tubes in the volume/surface area gained by filling the hole and probably a bunch of shield generators as well....hmmm maybe have two variants just entering service when the Dominion War kicks off if we start building them immediately once we're allowed to in 2370. Also are we allowed to build other designs come 2370?
