Yes but battletech ships are lower tech than even UNSC Halo ships. Battletech doesn’t have artificial gravity so they will be stuck at slower speeds that covenant ships will be able to exceed.
What If? You get sent to a random Sci-Fi setting an ROB offers you a non-military ship?

18 in the Argo, + 6 more if i'm allowed to fill the leopard drop ship. what really screwed me over is the lack of ftl. until i fix that i'm a sitting duck.
Probably just a Merchant-class Jumpship would be the easiest in universe solution. Unless you can slap a UNSC slip space drive onto it.

Anyway, New Year and all, I think I will roll again.
So, I will take the Ark(a non-military ship) from Tuf Voyaging.

Yeah, with me at the helm the Firefly verse baddies are boned.
Reavers are a bad joke compared to the stuff the Ark can produce, and it has FTL, so I can just fuck off to Earth to se what happened and potentially use my advanced tech, especially biotech to fix up the place.
Defense-wise the Ark has IIRC force fields, stuff like stasis fields and iirc reverse stasis fields used for faster gestation of GMOs produced.
Can easily be run by one person, etc.
Yeah but acting like a picket ship is kinda boring for a civilian exploration vessel.

I managed to get a Jupiter sizes ship since it is not military.
Most of the stuff Trek has are not military, either.
I am wondering if I can use a Lighthugger since those ain't strictly military, either.

I don't particularly see the point of choosing some massive super powerful vessel beyond of course... the base fun of curbstomping I guess which is fine. But for this thread I feel the more interesting choices have been the more dedicated exploration and civilian vessels like the Argo and the Runabout.
Also nothing against Starfleet but choosing a large Federation cruiser or whatever is valid technically, but along with basically being a warship and even described as a Battleship in lore by others, we've had like a half dozen television series with the exact same concept... it seems kinda redundant at this juncture to choose one as the exploration vessel... though bringing it to a new universe does add some interesting possibilities.
Too obvious a pairing with the Argo? It has one connection for a dropship but I'm not sure the practicality of pairing them both.

If your converting a civilian ship into a military one, it's basically a military ship IMHO. Your desire to min/max in this thread like its a Versus Debate is surreal. Plus it was literally defined as a warship and most notably a 'battleship' repeatedly in lore.
With that said the Lucrehulks are awesome. Waaaaaay back when this forum was first starting I thought of myself as a Writer and wanted to use a Lucrehulk for another 'Civilian application' in an abortive Quest idea. While the thread was a failure, like most of my threads, the idea of using a Lucrehulk is sound, but not because of the stale idea of wanting to make a Battleship operate as a Battleship in a thread about civilian ships being exploration vessels but because the Lucrehulk has a big and neat design.
The Lucrehulk would be neat because of its awe inspiring shape, and white is a good NASA style color for space exploration, but because it is a huge cargo vessel. You have plenty of room not just for spacecraft and probe droids and the like, but also massive amounts of cargo space. I think a neat idea would be making it into some sort of Museum Ship... with the Museum being inside the actual vessel itself.
But for exploration purposes it could just have a lot of prebuilt displays and galleries and vaults for collecting various curios of interest while the smaller vessels it hosts do the exploration of the nearby space and worlds.
The fact it can be largely operated by droids can help reduce crew size, improve automation and ease workload for the organics on board, and potentially provide a stronger narrative for any story detailing the exploits of these space age naturalist explorers.

Hey... you can dock with my Explorer-class. We have plenty of space.
We only have to overcome the issue of you being in the Halo-verse and me being in the X-Com verse and neither Universe ever really intimating having any sort of Multiverse concept going on, much less an Omniverse dealio in the lore.

There are so many robotic probes and ships that would be a good choice for you I think. May I recommend the Starchaser, the unarmed self flying recon Viper from 1978 Battlestar Galactica?
