Should never have given up their right to bear arms... (shakes head)
These are the same people who constantly talk about Nazis and Far-right and how we need to protect democracy. Projection. All of it.
They didn't. That was never a right guaranteed to the citizenry. America is actually rather unique in that way, like how they're unique in terms of gun deaths among comparable nations.Should never have given up their right to bear arms... (shakes head)
Including suicide or no? Because that skews the numbersThey didn't. That was never a right guaranteed to the citizenry. America is actually rather unique in that way, like how they're unique in terms of gun deaths among comparable nations.
Does anybody else see this sudden generosity toward Trump as a sign that they are giving up the charade that the Chinese Coof vaccines are good for people, and they want to associate Trump with it just so they can blame him when it all comes out?During Friday’s episode of “The View,” Meghan McCain gave President Trump credit for the development of COVID vaccines, noting it is a bipartisan issue. She also took aim at Press Secretary Jen Psaki who previously said other presidents don’t need a formal invitation to promote vaccinations.
McCain suggested new variants are bound to surface and said she’s worried the country won’t be able to pull out of constant restrictions until there’s new leadership in the White House.
“At this point, if it’s this serious that we’re going to lock down the country and masking everyone including, by the way, 2-year-olds, you should invite President Trump or someone in Trump land to help get the messaging out because until then we’re all being held hostage until this maybe never passes,” said McCain.
McCain said she wishes there was more energy coming from Democrats in Washington, D.C. on the rise in violence, saying the chances of getting shot are higher than contracting the virus.

America has more gun murderers than other comparable nations too. But, why would you not count suicides? It doesn't "skew" the numbers, it shows that lots of unwell people kill themselves because they have easy access to a quick, painless method with a very high probability of "success".Including suicide or no? Exactly. If someone wants to kill themselves getting rid of guns won't help.
My oldest friend killed himself via strangulation, despite having access to his dad's armory/gun safe, so having guns available (or not) will not stop someone who wants to end thier life.America has more gun murderers than other comparable nations too. When someone decides to kill themselves, it's usually a spurr of the moment impulse that lasts minutes. Not having access to a quick, painless and irrevocable method would absolutely help. A person can be at risk of suicide for a prolonged period, and more is needed to help them than simply taking away one method. Taking away that simple and effective method with undeniably reduce the numbers somewhat though, even if you want to quibble over the exact amount. If someone wants to kill themselves getting rid of guns won't help.
Put it at per capita. Take into account states with high gun ownership vs states with less
That's the most awful example of anecdotal argument I've ever seen. I can bring up a dozen examples of people who tried to kill themselves with less effective methods, failed, and changed their minds. They'd have been dead as hell if they'd had access to a gun and tried using that. Not having guns won't stop everyone, and not everyone who tries will give up after one attempt. To say that one person choosing a method other than guns when they had them available is proof that guns play no part in suicide is asinine though.Exactly.

Fair enough. At this point we're matched for point and counterpoint. If someone wants to argue further, feel free to bring it up somewhere more relevant and @ me.We should probably take the gun control talk to the proper thread, this one is for COVID-19 discussions.
