Shit, the people behind this are probably laughing about the fact that they got them to move that rock. I honestly doubt any of them actually thought it was any kind of symbol of racism - this was about an exercise of power.

when some one things all power is opression what do you think they will do when they get power.

The same what comrades Lenin,Stalin,Hitler,Mao and others did.
Gulags and massgraves everywhere. And surviving population marching and shouting how they love their opressors.

Oregonians Highschoolers don't need to be able to read to Graduate!!!

Because that can ONLY make your state better!

Idiots

EDIT: Hmmm...not sure it's completely stupid as it removes the Standardized Test results as a requirement to pass. Though, the manner in which it was passed, dead of night with no alerts sent out to those looking for updates to the status of the bill, make me think there's hinkyness afoot.

Text of Bill (3 pgs)

Reading of the bill includes many uses of 'equitable' and 'reduce disparities'. It reads like prepatory work for more CRT & Systemic Racism crap. Much hinkyness afoot.

Those shoes were probably so worn out they were on their way to the trash and likely will wind up in the trash after being donated anyways because shoes are not "one size fits most".

I know a homeless guy who was willing to go a week without food just to scrounge up enough money to buy a pair shoes of in his size.

The prize is unmasking...and freedom of expressions (facial)...talk about your conditioning programs.

I wonder how many govt studies there were that looked at the results of growing up without seeing facial expressions. I wonder when they happened, and who, most recently, was looking at the results.

Its not like they are going to distribute the shoes randomly, they're probably going to be sent to a homeless shelter where individual homeless will be able to try them on one at a time.

Real homeless people aren't going to put up with that unless they need shoes in a wierd size a dollar store or Wallmart doesn't carry because they can get brand new shoes for $20 or less.

I'm curious what you base this conclusion on?

Or put another way, where and how have you learned about homeless people?

Yes. We, *horrors of horrors*, actually shared a 6-pack of beer at a park a few weeks ago.

Okay. I'm glad to hear you have some actual idea; I've heard a lot of people say things with great confidence on this subject, while having nothing more than 'everybody knows!' or 'I heard a rumor' to go off of. As someone who's been homeless more than once myself, it's an issue I can get a bit particular about.

Shoes and socks are fairly low on the priority list these days for shelters and such, mainly because several major companies donate millions of pairs of each as tax write-offs and chest thumping 'look what good corporate citizens we are' moves.

Oddly enough, from my work with St Vincent de Paul, most of the homeless we work with need things like bicycle tires, 64 oz Big Gulp cups, and hats. Also sharpies, they go through sharpies like water for their signs. But whenever the shelter gets a bunch of baseball hats they are snatched up in seconds, and a good bicycle tire, especially a puncture resistant one, is gold to many of them. And the Big Gulp cups, because Circle K gives free refills if you come in with your own clean Big Gulp cup, so the homeless can get cold drinks so long as they have a clean cup.
