Shoes and socks are fairly low on the priority list these days for shelters and such, mainly because several major companies donate millions of pairs of each as tax write-offs and chest thumping 'look what good corporate citizens we are' moves.

Oddly enough, from my work with St Vincent de Paul, most of the homeless we work with need things like bicycle tires, 64 oz Big Gulp cups, and hats. Also sharpies, they go through sharpies like water for their signs. But whenever the shelter gets a bunch of baseball hats they are snatched up in seconds, and a good bicycle tire, especially a puncture resistant one, is gold to many of them. And the Big Gulp cups, because Circle K gives free refills if you come in with your own clean Big Gulp cup, so the homeless can get cold drinks so long as they have a clean cup.
I think what the homeless need may differ from area to area, because I remember when I was giving out food to the homeless at Calvery Lutheran Church (before the pandemic, mind you), that many of them were more often complaining about needing socks than anything else. Also, empty plastic water bottles.

Yeah. If you want to know what someone homeless needs ask them instead of just assuming you know what's best.

Handing the homeless guy I personally know a backpack full what you think he needs will irritate him because he probably already has much of what you just gave him or it's stuff he can't use or doesn't need. Plus, handing him a $50 is probably less expensive than what was spent on the backpack and the stuff inside it.

What the homeless need more than anything else is access to mental health care. Dealing with the symptoms will never end as long as you don't deal with the cause for them being homeless. For the permanent homeless, this is usually some sort of mental illness that prevents them from maintaining a job, such as untreated PTSD, although drug addiction is another big one.

A two billion year old, 42 ton racist rock has been removed from the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus after the Black Student Union and Native American groups whined about said rocks racist history.

The removal of the rock only cost about $50,000 but will apparently be paid for by private donations and regardless is a small price to pay. Consider the following:

But why is this rock racist?

As for historical context...

So yeah... it was probably a racist rock... because there was racism at the time. What is still unknown however is what racist slur was used in the 1925 newspaper account that so offended BIPOC people and their allies almost a century later.

Lets hope they don't hear about #Blackrock

Rock older than Humanity Removed for something that happened mere decades ago, how amusing.
Shit, the people behind this are probably laughing about the fact that they got them to move that rock. I honestly doubt any of them actually thought it was any kind of symbol of racism - this was about an exercise of power.
Has it been specified what was done with the Racism Rock afterwards, or are we going to have an increasingly ludicrous saga as wokeists wherever the rock was placed last time demand its relocation, only ending in a Dark Crystal reenactment or some right-wing cryptocurrency millionaire buying it as a really inconvenient lawn decoration purely to Own The Libs™?

It was moved to some other property the university owned off-campus, and they put a plaque dedicated to the guy the rock was actually named after in its place.

It's not always mental illness. The homeless guy I know is not diabled enough to qualify for government assistance and too disabled to accept practically any job offered by someone who would hire him.

I've seen him limping and it ain't pretty.

Switch doctors until somebody signs off on the disability.

A Mother who happens to be Black has filed a complaint with the US Department of Educations Office of Civil Rights against her school district after the School's Black Principal decided to segregate separate classes based on race. Principal Sharyn Briscoe's master plan went down like this apparently...

WSBTV said:
Posey said she found out the school was putting black students in two separate classes with two separate teachers. The white kids were placed in six classes with six different teachers.

[Posey] said she found this out when she let Briscoe know she wanted her child placed in the classroom of a teacher she thought would be a good fit.

Posey said the principal told her that wouldn’t work.

She said that’s not one of the black classes, and I immediately said, ‘What does that mean?’ I was confused. I asked for more clarification. I was like, ‘We have those in the school?’ And she proceeded to say, ‘Yes. I have decided that I’m going to place all of the Black students in two classes.’

Posey’s attorney, Sharese Shields, said the segregation at the school violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which states pretty clearly you cannot treat one group of people differently according to race but that is apparently what is happening at Mary Linn ELEMENTARY School. Gotta get em early...

The real question is would it be funnier if she wins or loses?

WATCH: Utah Teacher Goes on Threatening Political Rant Against Students Who Do Not Agree With Far-Left Ideology.. UPDATE — FIRED!

UPDATE: The district has announced on Wednesday that their investigation has concluded and the teacher is no longer employed.

A Utah teacher has been placed on administrative leave after she was filmed going on a crazy unhinged political rant and threatening students who do not agree with her far-left ideology.

The Lehi High School teacher threatened to open a “can of whoop ass” on students and “make their lives a living hell” if they did not fall in line with her beliefs. She also threatened to make fun of them if they expressed views they disagreed with.

“Most of y’all parents are dumber than y’all, I’m going to say that out loud,” the teacher ranted after declaring how much she hates former President Donald Trump and people who won’t get vaccinated. “You don’t have to do everything your parents say and you don’t have to believe everything your parents believe.”

She also tells the students in the video, “If you don’t believe in climate change, get the hell out” and “if you’re a homophobe, get out.”

“This is my classroom and if you guys are going to put me at risk, you’re going to hear about it. Because I have to be here, I don’t have to be happy about the fact that there’s kids coming in here with their variants that could possibly get me or my family sick, that’s rude.”

The teacher claimed that even if the students told the administration about what she was saying, nothing would be done to her. However, she has now been placed on administrative leave by the Alpine School District over the shocking comments she made in the video.

“We became aware late this afternoon of an incident that took place today in one of our high school classrooms. An immediate investigation ensued,” the school district said in a statement.”The employee has been put on administrative leave pending a thorough investigation. This behavior is inappropriate, not reflective of the professional conduct and decorum we expect of our teachers, and will not be tolerated.”
Local station KSLTV reports that “the clip was posted on rumble.com by Eric Moustos, a former Salt Lake City police officer who resigned after he objected to riding a motorcycle through the city’s gay pride parade in June 2014. More recently, Moustos has spearheaded the Utah Business Revival, which held large rallies in 2020 to protest government restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic. The clip is all that Moustos released and it’s unclear what happened before or after the recording.”

When I was in highschool (I graduated in 17) even my leftists teachers, who seem moderate now that I look back, wouldn't have done that, and would ignore politics in class. The only class where it was allowed was Economics and Gov, and both had right leaning teachers

All that virtue signaling and they still use 'latino(a)' in their ATTEMPT to be inclusive instead of using the proper 'latinx'.

Or did 'latinx' receive complaint about its neocolonial, Anglocentrism, forcing the teacher to change the sign?

How can there be no walls in a classroom where the reassuring signs are hung on a wall?

These are the big questions.
