So it was the right wing then? Sounds like a deflection to me but ok.
I'm saying that it sounds
plausible to me, and no more.
Yes. If something would have worked better, He would have done that instead. Being Omniscient and all.
It isn't the right of God to rebuke something that is not serving the purpose that pleases Him?
If you don't think Jesus was God, then it's just a dude pissed because he didn't get what he wanted. If you do, then He's God; it's His right to say whether or not the tree has failed in its purpose or not.
If you believe that God has the right to do those things, then fine by me. I just don't share that belief.
I also looked up the passage in question to refresh my memory, and it said the fig tree wasn't in season. If Jesus was omniscient, I would expect him to know that.
It was an acted parable. The fig tree there represented the Jewish nation of the first-century, who were failing to show the required "fruit" of repentance and faith.
If you're complaining about Jesus "taking out" His annoyance on some poor innocent tree, then first you are not understanding the context...
...and second you are talking as if vegetation has rights, or something.
It's entirely possible that I'm misunderstanding the context. I brought up Jesus because he was the first person that came to mind when thinking of historical figures that could be said to have been without sin/done no wrong throughout their lives,
ever. That is a
ridiculously high bar to clear because even a single act that could be considered 'sinful' or 'wrong' would disqualify them, no matter how minor.
The point I was trying to make is that anyone looking for a perfect person is going to be disappointed. Better to keep your expectations realistic and find someone who would generally be considered a good person
You're dealing with a lefty. If its something of Western civilization like Jesus, its bad and evil. Don't believe lefties when they lie about wanting statues. They want them all destroyed.
The hell I do. Jesus was awesome, it's not
his fault that some "Christians" use the religion as an excuse to be hateful dirtbags (looking at you, Westboro Baptist Church).
If they want to play the slavery angle it's only fair to point to the barbary pirates and the damage they did until the French ended them at Algeria.
In those days lands once thought unassailable was nothing to them that entire coast villages were depopulated by them. Snatched and clamped with irons.
Then there was the
Sultanate of Sulu, which raided everyone in the general area for loot and slaves until they made the mistake of pissing off the Spanish, who promptly kicked the bastards' teeth in.
The Left hates white people, and loves Islam, so they'd be fine with that. Assuming they even believe it.
They might just close their ears and accuse you of hate speech.
How about not tarring an entire direction with the same brush? Saying "the Left hates white people" is no different than saying "the Right hates black people"; both are equally wrong.
