Not really, though. Here's a google trends example:
All you've done is look at the most popular examples. Of course the most popular stuff is on average of better quality, especially when one uses google analytics, which would highlight the stuff that is popular outside of weebs.
But this is irrelevant to the question at hand. We weren't talking about the most popular few shows, but the majority of what is produced, and I claimed that the majority of anime
romance was trash. All you've done is say "But the best stuff is good." No duh, of course it is. But a) I was saying that anime
romance was generally trash (more than sturgeon's law), so almost all of your examples aren't relevant, and let's look at the new anime from the beginning of 2020, from MyAnimeList:
2 ecchi (read: perverted. Think very softcore porn. Obviously, shit at romance)
1 called Kyokua Suiri, whose female lead is described on their wiki as:
Kotoko is a young woman with a petite build and doll-like appearance, often mistaken as a young child instead.
So that's 3/3 for bad/creepy romances.
I was going to go through the rest of this year, but I think I'm done.
EDIT: Wait, hold up, those are only the ones that made the TV cut.
It gets even worse.
There's
Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It. I've (tried) to read the manga (my then boyfriend recommended it): it was shit.
There's
Ogaki Matsuri ni Ikou yo!, which MyAnimeList notes is a Tourism Promotion anime, so I'm betting it's not known for its romance.
And another Ecchi. Now its 6/6 of crap romance, in one season.
There's also more crap which was had 2nd or 3rd seasons, but overall not worth it.
EDIT EDIT: I missed another one with a young prepubescent looking girl (that has magic bs so she isn't actually). 7/7.
