Comrade
You could theoretically travel outside your 15 minute walk bubble, but it's designed to keep everything you do within the bubble. Work, play, food, shelter.

no it is further than 15 minutes walk away.

I should point out that the urban planning definition of a "15 minute city" is 15 minutes by foot, bike, and public transit. That's quite a bigger bubble than on foot alone, and virtually *all* small towns and minor cities are innately 15-minute. It only becomes a matter of urban planning to preserve that characteristic in larger cities.

Yeah. You are correct in that. But like I hadn't thought to sneak that in somewhere, and going back to edit that in was eeeeeehh. I had the thought while in the shower.

I do think, though, that this is supposed to be about the Senate. So I'm closing down my part in this discussion unless we get another thread going.

I honestly have no idea what's going on in NH, I live abroad now. I just know the NH senators are pretty much useless.

You control your house.
Unless you rent, but hey: can't let reality intrude on your delusions.

Your food availability.
Unless you're a farmer, you can't do control that either.

An arcology is ripe for abuses. Especially when it's in a place where incredibly basic things like oxygen and breathable air is controlled by other things.

And if you think that corpos or governments aren't going to take advantage, your head is in the sand.

Hold on, let me fix that for you:
Existence is ripe for abuses and if you think that corpos or governments aren't already controlling you, your head is in the sand.

Nope, you're just closer to the urbanite dream. Which is constantly moving closer and closer to living in an arcology.

Unless you're a farmer, you can't do control that either.

Nope, farmers barely control their own food access anymore. Especially when only two percent of the US are farmers and most of them don't even own the land they farm. And their access to seeds is absolutely controlled. So their food access can, in fact be heavily curtailed.

Gardeners and homesteaders have control over parts of their food supply.

It would be worse if we have to shove everyone we can into an arcology or 15 minute-city.

Hold on, let me fix that for you:
"Existence is ripe for abuses and if you think that corpos or governments aren't already controlling you, your head is in the sand."

So obviously we should just live in pods, eat bugs, own nothing, and be happy. Because nothing we do could ever keep us from being abused. We might as not try.

Sure thing!

Thank you Vyor, I have seen the WEF light, and it's all because of you convincing me that living in an arcology is the way forward for humanity!

The best arcology is one that is open to sunlight and is so far removed from what the WEF would make that it's funny.

It is time, and he definitely is pretty pro-status quo on certain things I disagree with, but Speaker Johnson is right that no one has done more for the conservative movement in the runup to Trump than Mitch McConnell. He spent the Obama years ensuring nothing was passed through the senate and is the reason we have as many fedsoc judges as we do right now. The hivemind hates him because he went against Trump in 2020, initially to prevent more handouts but then due to the election, so I'll be attacked likely just for stating this. But without him we'd be dealing with even more insane leftism in our government so he deserves some praise for that and for setting that stage for Trump to have the success he did.

Potential replacements:
Thune (R-SD)
Cornyn (R-TX): speculation swirling around Cornyn NOT seeking reelection to 5th term in 2026
Barrasao (R-WY)
Rubio (R-FL)

The most charitable thing one could say about McConnell was that he was good at defense and obstructing certain aspects of the democrat agenda, but could never manage a really good offensive legislative push when his party had control over the house and senate.

He was a leader from a different time and too timid when he could actually change something and deliver on his party’s promises instead of blocking the other guy.

Too timid, too willing to compromise, too content to play the game he had been playing his entire career, instead of realizing that times have changed.

And now the times have passed him by. Now we wait and see if we get someone willing to actually fight.

Yes for sure, but at the end of Bush Jrs presidency, and the onset of Obamas, defense is what the conservative movement needed.
