3D printing is a nightmare for Games Workshop.

Yeah, you can't use them in shops and official tournaments, but when someone creates an even better looking model of a unit, 3D prints it, and uses it in friend games or unofficial tournaments and no one bats an eye?

Additionally, people have been creating and using their own new races for such games, even creating Codexes, IIRC.

EDIT: And, being a 40k lore buff, I'll say this. Female Custodies were always a possibility in the lore. It had never been stated that they were all male (well, there was a throwaway line about the 10,000 being the "sons of Terra"), and their individual artisanal creation, as opposed to the mass manufacturing of Astartes, always left the door open on the idea that there could be female Custodies. It had just never been outright stated, and of course it would create problems with the idea that the Emperor didn't want a species of sub-par superhumans taking over the Imperium.

GW of course really fumbled the ball on this announcement, like terribly so, and its super clear this is just them bending over for the woke crowd constantly screaming for female space marines. I can see an alternate timeline where this change (or confirmation depending on your view) was done in a way that would have upset almost no one. A full novel release, with tie-in models, probably would have let this happen with little to no blowback.

But instead, GW released this info via a single post on one of the most contentious social media sites on the web, and then proceeded to block fans who didn't like it.

If your a fan of Warhammer 40k, gatekeep like your hobby depends on it, because it does.

Alleged claims by anons that amazon is strongarming GW into implementing female custodians amongst other woke changes.

I like the lore but I walked away from Warhammer senso largo about 15 years ago as my interests shifted.
Frankly I'm surprised that GW has survived to this day, with their jerking of the setting all over the place.
This move? I no longer care ... has "go woke go broke" on it ...

Calling people who criticise the change "incels" and "misogynists" and accusing them of "never have spoken to a woman before" or some crap like that put me off Tabletop Time, Bricky, etc. Many try to claim that those who are against the change lack empathy when they don't bother to try to understand people who dislike the change and how GW are going about it.
Sure, some of those against it can be misogynists, extreme incels, far right-wingers etc, but the brush is being applied far too thick and wide. Generalisation is never a good thing, in my eyes.
