OSINT only works if the people doing them aren't complete shills of one side.
and with photoshop and other forms of image and video manipulation so commonplace, I find it hard to believe many of the claims by Ukrops and their supporters.
The ones Planefag goes to are ones that existed before the conflict began, ones that have been proven reputable in other conflicts or potential conflict zones, and he is also willing to point out where they may be biased if that is a concern.
Most OSINT accounts are more interested in actually figuring out what has happened and counting casualties, not trying to push one side's narrative over the other.

I have known Planefag for years, and I can tell you very confidently that he has no room for bullshit in this sort of war reporting.
He debunked the 'rebel chem attacks' in Syria using nothing but OSINT, he has made a hobby of tracking new Nork bunkers/installations and even made maps of them in partnership with some other OSINT people, and he was banned from Twitter for calling a western journo a cunt.
I trust his analysis of this war more than I trust any gov agency or Western media group, because he's not getting paid to do this, he's doing it because he has already made a hobby of this sort of thing and cares about cutting through the BS.

Planefag is probably the most reliable of the internet sources. He is fallible as all human beings are, but he is correct more often than any other source I could think of. Small wonder he got purged off the Twatter.

I am more concerned about the sources he gets from. Not the man himself.
He cites all the sources and links to them in the blog posts.
Frankly, if you can actually pick out any legit problems with his sources or something he missed in his analysis, he'd probably love for you to point it out to him.
Planefag cares more about being accurate than pretending to have all the answers, and is very willing to admit making a mistake or misjudgement if people can legitly point them out to him.

So I was just at the store, and as I was using the self-check out, someone called in to ask about Western Union and if they could still send stuff to Russia that way. The manager told them they could not and that they could not answer all their questions over the phone.
I then overheard the manager say that people have been trying to use Western Union to send money to Russia that can be converted to crypto to avoid santions.
Rather interesting development, and definitely implies even average people with connections to Russia are trying any method they can think of to get funds past the santions regime.

Got me; maybe the Russian's cutting off Facebook and the like has impacted the ability to move crypto into the country from places like the US.
It's not really a counterpoint though? It sounds like an attempt to downplay without reason or cause. He's been questioning everything that's contrary to his POV and often erroneously or at the very least, using only obviously partisan/biased sources or his own 'hot takes' on everything which just happen to be just as predictable.
I mean one can be needlessly contrarian and just "ASK QUESTIONS" but what exactly do you want to address with such behavior?

And I only say this because while it's great to "ASK QUESTIONS" it tends to be a bit overbearing when it's coming largely from a far from Neutral POV and so it's not so much, "Oh hey, lets see what's going on in this war?" as opposed to... "X to Doubt" "X to Doubt" "X to Doubt"

Keep in mind, it takes more effort to deal with someone just "ASKING QUESTIONS" then just asking the questions, regardless of validity and that casting doubt where none maybe deserved and obstructing discussion is a tactic of discussion all on its own.
