Australia is a shithole.

New Zealand has also discussed becoming a Republic too & that means they could get their first President.
New Zealand is likely to become more a republic than Australia, yeah -- though the Monarchy is liked out there, it was the Queen that was the central figure of it (Philip, too).

If we can weather Charles' reign (not that he's a negative, mind) until William ascends the throne, we're all gravy.

There's another reason why they'd be hesitant to become a republic, too: The Commonwealth and the benefits it brings.

But, honestly? We've all got problems far worse than republicanism sentiment at the moment. At this rate, countries like Canada may cease to exist, and the causes for the breakups (e.g. Leftist policies) may fuel nationalistic (the bad kind) attitudes.
France, riots are practically a national past time, and they are on their 5th republic. In this case experience matters and france has the most experience when it comes to revolution.

Succession is legal in canada and each province trades more with the US than each other, their attempt to keep Quebec in at all costs has made bi lingual french and English speakers the only legal elite which means the pool of talent is freaking tiny which increases corruption, incompetence and builds up more resentment.

Canada is the one I expect to simply break up.

Australia...australia is a resistance groups wet dream the out back is perfect country for an insurgency, and you have a large amount of it in between the major cities. When the ozzy's finally get tired of the bullshit I give the Australian populist insurgency some of the best odds of winning in the western world.

For the early part of the conflicts I expect western leaders to use immigrants as Jassinary troops against locals which I think will envitably backfire because eventually immigrants will either ask for a hell of a lot of power that that leadership isn't willing to surrender or immigrants will stop coming because they will realize their safer back home.

You have a lot of delusional people in the third world but there are limits to those delusions.
I'm not sure about the Janissary Troop thing, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened because we all know how low these governments would stoop.

But France and Canada? Yeah, I can see this easily happening -- France is almost there already, and people are calling for Macron's head to be mounted outside Versailles.

"Let them eat cake," he says as they prepare the guillotine.

Solar Panels Spark Hot in Australia as Energy Companies Start Charging Owners For Excess Power Generation

Anyway, the loony fascists who Australians keep electing and allowing to beat them into submission (on any number of fronts) continue to march forward, destroying their uniquely dangerous paradise in the name of all things climate cult.

Residents pay hefty power bills even when wholesale energy costs fall.

The wholesale price of electricity in Australia is roughly three times cheaper than it was two years ago, according to new data from the Australian Energy Regulator, but retailers are still jacking up their prices.
The regulator's Wholesale Markets Quarterly Report for the first quarter of 2024 shows that wholesale energy prices have fallen about two thirds from recent highs in 2022.
However, Queensland Conservation Council energy strategist Claire Silcock said those savings were not being reflected in people's power bills.
"The retail price is going up in Queensland next year because there's still a lot of risk for retailers that there will be periods of extreme high prices," Ms Silcock said.
"They're managing that risk and not passing those wholesale power price reductions on to consumers."

With such abundant sunlight and the exorbitant and unreliable grid many of them face, solar installations on their homes made sense as a way to cut costs and keep their own lights on.
"Made" being the operative word.
As with all things that give the average consumer a break, Australians are soon going to find out that the solar panels on their roof churning out electricity are going to become an expensive liability unless they can control the sun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Seriously.

Australia is a insurgents wet dream, you do not want to piss off the Ozzies because if the outback seriously rebells then your pretty much fucked.
Bro they locked them in camps during covid and now they're getting charged for using the solar panels they bought to save money, and they allowed their government to disarm them. They root on and support this shit at that.

These are a weak, submissive, cowardly people. They're never going to rebel against shit.

The various Aborigines maybe, but the rest of the Aussies have become nothing but docile sheep. They're in an even worse shape than the UK, and that's saying something.

It's as @Rocinante said.

At this point, I think it's more likely that their government destroys itself due to their sheer greed and incompetence, than the people of Australia as a whole oppose it in any meaningful way.

This thread reminds me of a song (yes I'm aware its Canada but Australia and Canada are similar in many ways fight me)
