Voter registration is how people get on the list of people who get to vote. All voters are registered and registration is a prerequisite to voting. I think you're confusing it with a different term/thing.
I think he's confusing voter registration with with voter ID laws: a lot of which are meant to make it more difficult for registered voters to, you know, actually vote.

How is voting ID laws making it harder for registered voters to vote?
Indiana had PSA which said that there were twenty checks a registered voter had to pass just to vote with parts of this as the background:

"The Only Exception" is not how voting rights should work.

I am not confusing it, I am conflating it.
Voter registration, and voter ID, are both parts of voter verification process.
You need an ID to prove you are a registered voter. And to prove you only voted once. Voter registration is totally useless without voter ID.

I am intentionally conflating the two to make a joking reference to how "ID is racis because only whites are smart enough to own one" is the democrat party line.

Here's what someone needed to present at the polling place when I was 18 in order to vote: your voter registration card and that was it. If you were on the list you got to vote. If you weren't you were turned away outright or told you were at the wrong polling place.

EDIT: I mistook you for @Zachowon. My appologies.

I am willing to pay for people to have an ID with tax money if we are able to get that as a prequisit for voting.

I mean its litterally peanuts compared to the other shit we waste money on.
Yep, a state ID should not be an expense, at least say once a year. If you say need a new one every month then a fee sounds reasonable for the extras. Especially now that ID is a requirement for travel.

So am I. Making it hard for someone to get ID is not ok.

That's what a lot of ID laws do.

The US was not a "papers please" country when I was younger. It's turning into one and I don't like it.

GA has mandatory IDs when voting.
Yet more people turned out to vote then before.
And the state will give you a voting ID if you need one, and me as a military member has to show valid ID when submitting Absentee ballot.

ID should be required for voting.
Because without it, you get minors, illegals, foreigners voting.

Your voter registration card - and that alone - should be good enough. That's all that was needed before you were born.

EDIT: Most Army Sergrant Majors (~39yrs on average) are about five years younger than I am.

Voter fraud in the US is pretty rare and does get caught.

Cheating, OTOH, is a different issue ...

All Voter ID does is require you to show you are still a member of that state.
We know people voted in states they were not in anymore during 2020.

Missouri still thinks that I'm a St. Louis resident even though I haven't been there since 03. Blame gov't inertia.

You confused the words "is" and "was".
Nowadays voter fraud in the US is overwhelmingly common.
It does get caught, but then they deny and coverup.
I don't think voter fraud is a big problem in the US because most voters are honest.
