How about this: zero illegals, and that's just for entertaining a deal.

1. As far as the money goes... for every illegal that's currently in the USA that gets deported, 5000 bucks get put in the package. If I've got my numbers right, you can get the 61 billion, and a bit extra, by deporting all illegals from the USA.

2. It also has to be agreed that henceforth, for every dollar that goes to any kind of foreign aid, a dollar also has to go to border security (with a huge-ass border wall being the number 1 priority).

Isn't that a good deal? Get to it, Joe. Make it happen. Everybody will be happy. Ukraine gets aid, and the USA gets rid of the illegals. That would be great. If Joe Biden refuses a good offer like that, the only possible explanation is that he hates America more than he loves Ukraine. Well... that's his defect, isn't it?

Like the tins of domestic issues we have that they seem to let the dems do without stopping them

I love the ability of the GoP to endlessly consider and agree to bad deals. Money right now for an unenforceable agreement to maybe limit the amount of illegal immigration? What a steal right, they totally won't refuse to enforce their end of the bargain after the money is sent on.

Doubt it. The two biggest issues on peoples minds are the border and Ukraine (well, also Israel.). Making a deal for Border control in exchange for Ukraine deal makes it seem like Republicans are compromising to get both things done, and dems throwing a fit makes it seem like they think only their issues should be taken seriously. It may not work, but there is no better issue nor one more likely to get them A) to play ball or B) go on the record as not wanting something with overwhelming public support.

Like it or not this is how politics should work, both sides have to get something they want. Compared to the last couple of generations where only democrats got something they wanted and Republicans were all compromise, this is a step in the right direction.

Why not focus in things like trans issues, LGBTQ, stuff they know the right wants and it can show that they are willing to actually do something instead of making it seem like the right supports Eusdia by holding Ukraine hostage

What exactly would the play be here? The reason the border is good politics is specifically because even a plurality of democrats want the migrations to stop, this isn't the case for w/e current culture war issue you're thinking of. Forcing the dems to take the wrong side here will have real consequences at the polls (or more likely they'll have to concede) while I'm not even sure what issue there is with "LGBTQ" stuff that's being put to a vote right now. The senate is refusing to pass a border bill already passed by the house, that's the compromise. Pass our bill we'll pass yours.

Why not hold Ukraine hostage? It the Democrats war, they can support Republican interests to fund it, or they don't and we don't support it, and Biden has another lost war under his belt.

I don't trust the Republicans to use it well, but its an ideal thing to use hostage.

Exactly. If this was reversed all you'd see in the media was the dems wanted to Fund the border and ukraine and the evil, fascist republicans are willing to kill both to be evil fascists. We should be doing the same and I'm glad to see a party that's starting to, if even a little, play these games against them. Still gotta long way to go before they become a party you enthusiastically vote for, but it's a start.
