Bloomberg 2020, the (Five) Hundred Million Dollar Man!

In something that probably belongs in the Media thread as much as it does here...
'Writer/author' Benjamin Dixon--who runs an online progressive podcast show in similar vein to The Young Turks (but much smaller)--dug up an audio recording that was apparently too much trouble for any of the other major media networks (Bloomberg News especially) to bother finding...

Taken from a 2015 speech he gave in Aspen Colorado*, Bloomberg defends rather foot-in-mouth-y the NYC stop & frisk policy and the specific targeting of black communities and individuals by law enforcement.

Bloomberg News yet to report on the matter ( :p )...
Le gasp! That shows me for just looking at their front-page. They did do a story on it! No word yet on Mark Niquette's continued employment status ( :p ).

*A speech that's previously been used against him by gun-rights groups, as a fun, cross-ideology overlap in Bloomberg-criticism.

Good gods this man is an abhorrent monstrosity. What horrific Lovecraftian X-Dimension did they drag this sneering abomination from...

Say, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve heard that Trump himself is a globalist BUT of a much more international trade sort than casually throwing off lots of local jobs without thinking of longterm problems of a now unemployed and disgruntled people
Sort of, he is fine with international relations, as long as the US isn’t being taken advantage of. The problem is the globalized system only exists because of US largesse. So his plans will inevitably lead to the current systems end.

New York City.
(disclaimer on the off-chance New Yorkers or those who, for some reason, would seek to defend the place read this: I rag on the city with tongue in cheek because folks from there do it to the rest of us like they're some kind of metropolitan Texas or something. I would never be foolish enough to genuinely insult the home dimension of the Great and Mighty Zuul.) :p

In related, the guy is very close to qualifying for the next debate, needing only one more poll putting him at >10% support. I can't readily track down how many more polls release in the qualifying timeframe, but I assume it's more than one and Bloomberg seems to be bouncing around the mid-teens in other polls so...Pretty good chance of him qualifying.
Which, I can only assume, would see him getting eviscerated by every single other candidate on the stage the entire evening? Except...I'd have expected the same thing for Sanders, and there's something of a no-man's land there where really blatant attacks don't really get thrown (excepting Warren's 'you're a sexist!'...fiasco), and Bloomberg does have All the Money Ever, and there might be some impetus not to piss him off and jeopardize donations? Which is...Something.

At this point, it's looking like things are narrowing down to be either Sanders or a convention-fight where who knows what manner of shenaniganry will reappear since...I think the last such thing was back in the 70s in a fight between Reagan and Ford? And that wasn't nearly as 'contested' as this one could be. Don't know off the top of my head when the last multi-candidate slapfight happened.
*sigh*
No matter what, it's gonna be a long primary.

Late-edit: Also! Holy frijole, the opposition-research from other candidates is having a field-day with Bloomberg. I hate linking twitter, but it's the only way I know to reference folks to the video:

To summarize: Bloomberg says that elderly people 'with cancer' need to be denied care in the US system to save money in the system (though there's no context of whether he was talking about this as under a potential 'new' system or as a modification of the existing one...In either case, not exactly a good look).

Except to elderly people like himself, of course...

If the Democrats let Bloomberg get the nomination, it will really show how corrupt and unprincipled the party is. Then again, last time they nominated Hillary Clinton, so that should come as no surprise to us.

Personally I would welcome Bloomberg as the Democratic nominee. Bloomberg doesn’t really stand for anything, not even left wing nonsense. He’s a power hungry authoritarian with no grass roots support and he’d be up against Trump who is genuinely loved and supported by his base.

I like Trump’s chances against him.

I have a hunch that Bloomberg will have himself installed on the Golden Throne before he lets himself die.

Bloomberg is the kind of guy who has contempt for the masses. Farmers and factory workers are stupid, so are people who own guns. The common folk shouldn’t get to decide what food to eat or be allowed dangerous weapons. Not even pick their own candidates. When they get to old to be productive, there’s no need to spend a lot of resources on their medical care.

Bloomberg even thinks that the police should hassle innocent black people because they look suspicious. That goes too far for me and I'm a racist, just ask Spacebattles. Can you imagine Trump advocating something like that and how the leftists would reaction?
It wasn't even that long ago the left did attack Bloomberg for this, it is interesting how quickly things change when he becomes percieved as their chance for power.

Oh wait, you're serious.

No. Nononononono.

The reason these media outlets are stepping aside or pushing Bloomberg isn't because they think he can win. It's because he's paying them. The Bernie Bros? The Warren Princess Squad? They're fucking pissed. Because Bloomberg is literally doing what everyone screamed that Trump would do and is drowning everyone in sheer cash flow.

This is media whoring itself out to the highest bidder.

I have seen in Youtube comment sections some Alt Right individuals say they might vote Bloomberg because of what he said about minorities and the polices he had against them in NYC............. All I can say is anyone dumb enough to vote for Mike Bloomberg deserves to have their rights taken away from them by him.
