Exactly this. In the eyes of BLM, him living is unacceptable. He didn't get death row.
Therefore it wasn't enough

Oh, I know intimidation happened. Whether it will be judged enough to overturn the trial I doubt. You think intimidation is unlikely when we had a politician making threats?
Fair, calling it hope is a little wrong on my part. Though I actually think 2nd degree manslaughter is less likely than 3rd degree. Personally, I think this should be declared a mistrial because of Maxine Waters, then retried and convicted of 3rd degree.I think you're factually correct that the verdict will not be successfully appealed or overturned into a mistrial, but given your stance has been that Chauvin should be found guilty of at least 3rd degree murder & 2nd degree manslaughter characterizing yourself as not "hold[ing] out much hope" seems a bit disingenuous to me.
Not having that ability is good. We don't have it because by and large, the system works despite all its failings.Look, it’s gonna take us a bit ok. North America doesn’t have the practice Europe has in going zero to jackboots. So we’re going to need you to cover for us while we all try and work out how the boots go on. Afterwards, once we get going you can teach us the magic of alternative uses for aircraft.
What we are seeing is the system starting to work less and less. When did it start being acceptable for threats of illegal violence to be used to force verdicts in court cases or elections? And now they they have once again proven to work, do you think their use will lessen?+

Sentencing hasn't even taken place yet...

That you think unfair convictions are new, or that this, even if it is unfair, is some special kind of new, is just wrong. There's a guy in Texas who got life in prison for not paying a ~$200 fine. Waco. The cops can blow up your house in pursuit of a suspect and it doesn't count as a taking. There are states where if you're the getaway driver and your partner in crime is shot and killed, you are guilty of felony murder. COINTELPRO. And I can go on as long as you have time. And the US is one of the nations you want to live in, because we can actually talk about the problems. What we are seeing is the system starting to work less and less. If jackboots come, all that happens is it gets worse. Because just like leftists who think they're not going to be up against the wall first, you'll be in the same place, even if you win. Coups don't end in happiness, and only morons hope for a civil war.
We have had years of leftist thugs and terrorists getting everything they want on a silver platter, with police literally getting down on their knees and washing their feet, with their victims being arrested for defending themselves. All that it’s done is make them more violent, more radical, more angry.Well that'll show me I guess. Now on to rounds of appeals and other post-trial minutiae I am unfamiliar with.
Hey, maybe the vikings won't riot since they got what they want.
Did you actually watch the video? Or any of the trial itself? Because from what I saw, I'd say it's pretty damn clear Chauvin was in the wrong.
Floyd was an idiot for committing a crime and then resisting, but that doesn't give a cop free rein. There are procedures in place to follow, and hell, the people who *wrote* the procedures were saying "He violated them."
Try not to take it too seriously. I referrenced to the fact that European style authoritarianism, in particular socialist, is a poor fit for North Americans for a reason. The current outcome of the trial is nothing more then another brick taken out of the wall. In honesty it’s likely not even a big one compared to incidents that both of us could name. That it’s small though, doesn’t change that the wall is getting shaky and that people should maybe stop sledging out pieces. That you think unfair convictions are new, or that this, even if it is unfair, is some special kind of new, is just wrong. There is always someone willing to take money to enforce policy. All that’s changing is which stated and unstated policies. Sure the quality might drop, but I bet their political correctness will only increase.I wonder what the stats on cop recruitment will be after this.
Political correctness doesn't tend to survive reality. There is always someone willing to take money to enforce policy. All that’s changing is which stated and unstated policies. Sure the quality might drop, but I bet their political correctness will only increase.
That drop in quality is part of the goal of the BLM movement. Leftists don’t want to eliminate police, they want a police state with oodles of uniformed thugs going around taking people’s guns and arresting them for hate speech. The current crop of police aren’t too enthusiastic about doing that on a large scale, but 10 or 20 years down the line, the police are going to even more willing to that. There is always someone willing to take money to enforce policy. Sure, but you get exactly what you pay for. A large part of the instinctive defence of police is that they are, more of less, your people. They come from you and yours so you defend them like it. You don’t attack them on sight, you don’t go out of your way to make their lives harder. That dynamic changes as you say when they are nothing more then that state’s uniformed thug, come to oppress you in the name of political correctness. What social obligation will you owe this new order police? That drop in quality is part of the goal of the BLM movement.
