Personally, one of my issues with Fallout 2 is that it went in too hard with the pop culture easter eggs, as well as being far more wackier then Fallout 1. Something that Bethesda-fallout seems to have noticed and leaned into more.

Also the fact that no one at the Enclave Oil Rig noticed the giant pre-war oil tanker docking with their hidden base or investigated it seriously. Either that or I am SERIOUSLY missing something.
I know FO2 has a lot more easter eggs, but it's hardly as if FO1 lacked them or anything. Area 51, space-elvis, godzilla, Dr Who, A boy and his Dog, and probably half a dozen more are in FO1.

If FO2 has an issue with pop culture, it's only because it's just a much larger game in general, and thus can fit in a lot more references. The spacing between them is honestly not much closer than FO1's events/easter eggs.

If you say so. Though I seem to recall the game in general being more on the wackier side. Though I'll admit I could be mistaken, its been a few years.

Its wackier in a lot of places, but also a lot more grim in others. More polarized than FO1 IMO.

As I said earlier:

The plot of FO2 was literally "things the devs found cool", right down to the opening cutscene being the Enclave gunning down rando Vault Dwellers for no reason. The tone was terrible too, with this dark plot centred on racism and genocide ... having as its main villains a parody of both Nixon and Bill Clinton at once, a heavy who's basically just a dumb thug (and a Clint Eastwood movie reference) whose dialogue is variations of "I'm gonna kill you now", and a mad scientist who rambles on about brahmins. The first and last you only meet in one conversation each at the very end of the game and are basically never mentioned before that.

Remember, it was rushed out in one year after FO1. That's no way to produce the masterpiece some say FO2 is. What's even more hilarious is that Interplay's vision for FO3 was literally to redo FO2 BUT IN SPACE with a villain who wants to unleash a bioweapon to cleanse the world of humanity AGAIN for even more unclear reasons.
As to the tanker, what's more hilarious is that they could have flawlessly won just by putting the FOB it needs to dock ... on the Oil Rig. There was no reason not to.

Analyzing Evil, Mr. House from Fallout: New Vegas.

The Vile Eye is a YouTube channel that delves into the character of various villains in movies and books and even video games. I've only seen a handful of the videos, but he's covered everything from Morgoth from the Tolkien Books, to D-Fens from the film Falling Down or Walter White from Breaking Bad and even villains from animated series like The Lion King and Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls.

I have seen some of his tier list videos and streams however, so its interesting to see how he rates how "evil" people are based on their acts and motivations as well as the context of what they were doing and other justifications or ideology they might have motivating them since ultimately, some of this is subjective. Anyways... he did a video on Mr. Robert House which was pretty neat.

If it follows the format of his previous videos, he might potentially cover other "evil" (or perhaps not so evil) characters from the Fallout series.

FO4 Power armor can be carried by a single man, they just changed It to the frame be the thing doing the carrying
Front_power_armor_frame.jpg

And again you're taking NCR word at face value from a character who is not even an engineer.
Visually the Heavy Trooper is the same as the BOS T-45 with servos intact
FNV_NCR_salvaged_armour.png

T45d_Power_Armor.png

The only noticeable difference are the arms and knees having less armor, a far cry from OMG LITERALLY YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE IT EMPTY THERE'S NOTHING THERE LITERALLY NOTHING!!!!

I'm confused on why you think a post apocalypse society would have people trained on reverse engineering military power armor?

Go ask how many people IRL who know how to repair a Sherman Tank even with schematics. Do you think the Dead Horses in New Vegas know how to repair power armor or how about the Great Khan's? Or at the very least the Black Foot?

It's been 150 years just give them some schematics surely they'd figure it out
😜

The real issue here is that Zeno doesn't consider the IP holders to be canon sources of info.

I don't think Bethesda has any people writing the story instead it's the director of West world and they've played Fallout
The director has played some of the Fallout games. And as I recall, he has stated that his favorite title in the series is Fallout 3.

This makes me more worried, not less.

Out of all the Fallout games, Fallout 3 contained the least amount of developing civilization. Even in Fallout 4 you had the beginnings of a city state even if it was poorly done. The capitol wasteland is just a giant mess.

Not to mention Fallout 3's imbecilic and railroaded main story, schizophrenic villains, and terrible pacing make me question the competence of anyone who thinks that that is the best Fallout title.

But mostly his statement that Fallout 3 is his favorite Fallout game tells me that what he wants out of Fallout is an anarchic wasteland without any civilization to break the lone wanderer fantasy. Just like Bethesda.

And by all indications that is exactally what he has created in his show.

Didnt know he was a Fallout 3 fan, but yeah, that makes me more worried to for exactly the same reason you outline.

Damnit, why can’t we have actually nice things?

There's nothing wrong with liking Fallout 3 though lol.

I mean it kinda makes sense in the context of Fallout 3 that the East Coast areas would be less developed, the Capital aka heart of the nation would have been targeted the hardest by nukes

The West Coast got hit too but also remember that East Coast is twice as densely populated as the West so there's more Ghouls and less survivors then the Super Mutants on the East Coast were neanderthals that would have raided settlements to grow their hordes

Add some unfortunate factions like Slavers and Talon Company and it'd be difficult to establish a major civilization when any that try to grow get stomped out. The West Coast vs East Coast has important stuff that differentiate the two.

Heck just playing for a bit you'll see the East Coast is overrun with hostile Super mutants that only the Brotherhood of Steel is able to combat.

There's seriously a lot of context as to why the West is better off than the East, even New Vegas had House shooting down nukes to make the place less irradiated.

Game doesn't have to be perfect to be someone's favorite 🤔 though yes there is concern on making a show on the West Coast because you don't want too many inspirations from the East Coast.

But in the context of Fallout it's not easy to rebuild civilization, NCR is just lucky honestly its founders didn't get immediately slaughtered which probably would have happened if it weren't for the BOS and Protagonists involvement.

But mostly his statement that Fallout 3 is his favorite Fallout game tells me that what he wants out of Fallout is an anarchic wasteland without any civilization to break the lone wanderer fantasy. Just like Bethesda.
That's a stretch

Please by all means list every indication from a two minute trailer

@Battlegrinder I remember at one point you making a really good point as to why 3 is better then NV.
0_o In what way? I've played FO1-2 about a dozen times and NV is much closer to those games than 3. 3's plot itself is so nonsensical it's insulting.
A Geck is basically all the tools required to make a fully functioning society out of complete garbage, and what does FO3 do with such a wonderful piece of kit? It makes a fucking water purifier that can be accomplished with some stones, silt, sand and carbon.

Well, that's something that should've happened as well lmao. People forget that you can travel pretty far with even the most simple of caravans, and Brahmin apparently are very easy to care for.
