Funny enough, they pick a d choose who's offense is important, because plenty of Chinese people are claiming it's offensive to punish this guy over their language. Just because it sounds like a word in another language.

I want to call them fucking pussies. But here's the thing. They aren't offended, and their mental health isn't damaged. That's all a lie because they know they can use it as a way to have power over the university. That's all that 90% of this shit is. "I bet if we throw a fit and tell them this damaged our mental health we can get the teacher fired or suspended!" And they're right. Because the university administration, THOSE people are the fucking pussies, who are afraid to say no and kick these losers out of their office.

It's a power play. It works in university and now it's starting to work in the wider world as well.

You know, in an interesting way, these university administrators, are indirectly admitting that they aren't actually teaching anything.

Because at an actual teaching institution, the number one most important thing, is skilled teachers. A building, texts, supplies, all of these are secondary or tertiary, what matters is people with the particular temperament and skillset to effectively impart knowledge to the students.

The quality of the faculty, is ultimately what should be pulling in your students. If your students are actually there to learn and understand a difficult topic, they are drawn in because of the excellent specialist educators.

But if, in the eyes of your administrative staff, there's nothing more complex than political slogans, and assertions treated as axioms, that you're teaching these students? You don't need a competent faculty. You need people who agree with the slogans and party line, and are willing to push it on the next generation of people to be indoctrinated into your cult.

If a university is trying to get by on actually being an institution of education, then being a place where the faculty are in constant fear for their jobs because any single student effectively holds more power than they do?

That's a death sentence to your institution, because all the better educators are going to go looking for a less hostile work environment, with some more job security. And once that talent is gone, you are now stuck relying on inferior teachers, while your competitors have all the better competitors.

The fact that this isn't even remotely a concern for most of these institutions, reveals a great deal about what kind of people are running them.
