My criticism of Rome as an Italian are plenty but I will give a few : it became too big for its own good WITH lots of infighting (like the US in a way) and then what came after (because of negligence, apathy as well as more real and concrete factors), was objectively worse for a long period of time (kinda like Brazil after the stratocracy that were the military governments) AND finally, like many countries TODAY those who actually want to work for the homeland (unlike Tusk, Lula, Napolitano) are shunned like Scipio and Stilitcho were in Rome.
 
I am fascinated by the pronounciation of "Brayschchya".


I always thought it was Breschya.

BTW - easy to write in Polish - it'd be "Brejścia".

I mean, it shouldn't be surprised considered at one point (if memory serves me right), there were Polish rulers in Italy..I think a Jagiellonian king also ruled what is today Southern Italy for a time. But then you could actually debate how much he did rule and to which degree.

If I was upset I would "reeing" like you do when someone stops your Israel and Ukraine simping streak.
I would want simply a monument for the victims of Fascism in that spot, not a "fat boy club" shop.

The only delusional one here is you, if you think that you and your governments have a better option than the US to ally with, and if you think that the same shit wouldn't have happened to your nation without the US involved.

What's that meme about Italy/Italians being burdens as allies to whatever side they are on, because they keep wanting to try to be the Roman Empire again and keep fucking up simple things in the process.

Then again, given your takes on Ukraine and Israel, and the west in general outside the Russian simps/those who take Russia simps at face value, shows that the Wu Flu broke you and you are lashing out at anything remotely connected to 'the west; because of your personal problems/misguided attribution of guilt to the whole west instead of a few idiots in power back during 2020.

Then again, without the US, Italy and most of Europe would either be speaking German or Russian right now. So you're welcome.

Depends on perspective, because the RE wasn't whole good, whole neutral, whole evil, because even in Italian history classes it is not treat with rose or black and white tinted views, rather it goes with " this happened and this happened as well" without sugar-coating or blackpilling.
Matter of fact I distinctively remember that Anglophone historians are rather generous compared to Italian historians with regards to the Roman Empire, but it is likely because in hindsight in many places it gave place and origin to many of our countries and positive things we acquired down the line, Thomas Sowell (again, like I do with some other people I post here and elsewhere on the Sietch, don't take everything as the golden truth) did pointed out how the ancestral Scottish people did resist Rome and successfully so only to fall much later to their descendants who had mixed with the recent conquerors.

Or in shorter words : take the good things of the Roman empire (safety, prosperity and lawfulness during its peak) and what's bad and/or morally dubious and/or detrimentally unworkable (such as excessive cosmopolitan multiculturalism )throw it in the dustbin of history.
