Was the same also the case back in 1870-1871? Because in that war, the Germans did manage to conquer Paris, albeit without them also simultaneously having to fight on a second front.

Nowhere near that extent.

Indeed. They send some dyvisions East when Russian attacked East Prussia - as if there was anything worth keeping except old castles. If prussians were smart, they would let russians take it,taking Paris in the same time.

Well,if they were smart, they would not be prussians.

Where do you find these maps?

I don't know if they actually had the capacity to take Paris either way due to logistics, though:

Google search.

Danke!

Anyway, what do you think about my question here?

Had Germany encircled both the BEF and Charles Lanrezac's Fifth Army in late August 1914 and subsequently managed to conquer Verdun due to France diverting the troops from there to the Marne in order to save Paris, could the fortress of Toul have become this TL's version of Verdun in 1916?

@Husky_Khan In addition to my question to you right above, on post #346 here, here's another one for you:

How many people (primarily men) do you think failed to become supercentenarians (live to age 110+) as a result of World War I?

Fatties and morons welcome.
I thought the fat thing has been around for ages? Since the 90s? I.e. too fat candidates are put on a bread&water and exercise regime until they pass?
Dunno about the academic dudes, though.

Beats me. The news of it bring passed around means just more standards are being lowered.

Well, I read about the "slimming down" regime in a fanfic, so that's not a very reliable source ...

This source has been shared around with similar jargon. What it means is standards are lowered to give recruits who failed another chance.

So, you are saying that it imparts more weight to one's opinions?

Well,my friend like to joke that he is not fatter, but get more authority or prestige.
And,i use that, too. Thanks my last meals i am full of prestige!

It goes back to Vietnam. Do you think the all the people who got drafted were all slim and trim. No many had to slim down in bootcamp.
