I looked and I didn't see one, so this is the Star Trek thread for fanfic recs, ideas, and discussion.
So here are a few Trek what ifs.
1. Organian intervention in the Dominion war. Assuming Organia is reached by Dominion forces or otherwise fought over, the Organians once again decisively intervene to bring peace, doing so against the Will of the Prophets leading to a cosmic war.
2. Not sure about the POD-but I want to see a voyager story where Seven ascends to the rank of captain, I dunno most of the other senior staff die? Including Harry? Not sure how that would work.
3. Intendant Kira is arrested on DS9. For the Orb theft, leading to an attempt from the Klingon-Cardassian alliance to retrieve her. Leading to an inter universal conflict.
4. Story idea-the logs of Lieutenant Ducane, of the time ship relativity. This would require a lot of creativity to work. But I’d love to see an author tackle being a Trek time cop.
5. Just a concept, a story from the perspective of scientists at the Daystrom Institute.
I remember reading something vaguely similar once, I think it was either on deviantart or alternatehistory forum, where the Jack Pack's plan to cripple the Federation works, the Dominion is winning the war and the Federation remnant starts spamming superweapons. As seen from the perspective of the Voyager crew halfway around the galaxy, getting a message essentially telling them 'there's nothing left to come back to, go build a Federation successor state'.So here's an idea.
Or rather a set of ideas.
Basically the founders are still infected, but in the pale moonlight backfires in spectacular fashion leading the romulans to join the war on the dominion side.
However within a year(and the Federation and Klingon empire being ground down and probably about six months away from surrendering under optimistic time tables) all of the Founders die, leading to a collapse of the dominion in the GQ and in the AQ.
The Federation and Klingons are basically rump states holding onto their core worlds at this point, and preparing for an inevitable defeat, but when the word can no longer be hidden that the founders are dead-the jem'hadar basically do a few things.
Commit suicide, turn on their vorta, or non dominion allies. Or some combination of the above, some of the more competent Alpha Jem'hadar with more individual initiative hold out a while longer before dying from lack of ketracel white. The Dominion falls apart-with the Cardassians and Romulans turning on each other in a spectacular change of fortune.
In the process illegal weapons of planetary destruction are used and billions die, but the Romulans having the overall stronger military and government prevail and take Cardassia in a bloody assault(I'm imagining increasingly outlandish cloak and dagger intrigues as the dominion falls apart before full scale war erupts).
Turns out, there was a real invasion of Romulus planned, albeit it would have been after the Federation and Klingon Empire had been dismembered.
Sisko was believed now to have been telling the truth, as the romulans sign peace with the Federation(from a position of marginally greater strength), while the Klingon empire disintegrates. Eventually a closer political and military bond is forged between the two recent enemies-the discovery on Cardassia having convinced the Romulans of Federation sincerity, not duplicity, as the two exhausted powers battered and basically about to fall over, determine the fate of the AQ. With promises of Federation aid to millions of Romulans who suffered from last ditch Cardassian biological weapons projects, the Federation begins to regain its feet, having been only months away from total defeat about a year previously.
Voyager takes longer to get home, with Janeway having been informed that the Federation was on the verge of total destruction, so Janeway and the Voyager crew spent around two extra years recruiting allies, mercenaries, and doing things like using time travel, Borg nanotechnology, and so on to achieve these ends and coming to rescue the Federation, only to find it had survived, battered bloody and bleeding, but still standing. Well on second thought-there is no Admiral Janeway in this timeline, so it takes them another decade or so.
A fleet of sorts had been formed, like in the void, with all agreeing to basic Federation principles(Janeway of course knew that by this time it would be too late and some new friends would leave and she let them without trouble).
Basically the hope was that the DQ Federation in exile as the crew had been calling it could somehow reconquer(well liberate) the Federation or inspire uprisings against Dominion rule(an enemy of which Voyager given its situation knew relatively little-other than that they had destroyed the Maquis, had soldiers called the Jem'hadar and were beating the Federation as well as being from the GQ).

How about the shipwrecked borg in Antarctica getting found a few years later?I'd probably ditch the Borg getting aboard and trying to take over subplot, but it might work for getting the polities of Earth to sit up and pay attention, knowing how close they came to complete destruction a second time.
That would be well after the fact and wouldn't really scare anyone the way active borg would. The fact aliens tried to invade would probably be public knowledge by that point anyway. They might find debris from the sphere, but with the Enterprise crew there to warn them how dangerous the borg can be, they aren't likely to get very far.How about the shipwrecked borg in Antarctica getting found a few years later?
The bottom left ship strikes me as the best if you're going for stuff that's still reminiscent of the Federation. It has just enough similarity to 24th century Federation ships that you can see the lineage while still being its own thing. The swept back, hull mounted nacelles resemble the Steamrunner and its a fairly elegant design in its own right. The center module between the nacelles kind of detracts from it overall though. The rest of the ship looks quite solidly build, but the module is this scrawny little bit hanging off that disrupts the general profile and doesn't quite fit. Leaving the nacelles bare would be better.
