The Satanic Temple may not literally believe in Satan, but they still work very hard to achieve his goals. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, etc. This woman is another run-of-the-mill liberal hagraven who joined a "religion" that lets her pursue her favorite pastime... worshiping herself.
Which, of course, is exactly what Satan wants. Funny how it never occurs to these people who are coming from an atheist POV that if Satan were real, a tenet like: "One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone" is exactly what he would teach.
Satanists always try to sell themselves to the public as an edgy joke—even Anton LaVey used to say that their idea of Satan in his devil worship club was ackshyully some metaphor for Nietzschean master morality and individualism—but in fact they do worship the devil, hence the name, the imagery and words they use, and finally their big Baphomet statue. The wink and the nod of "no dude it's totally ironic" serve to mock their opponents, and also groom their new recruits, whom they make make comfortable with low-grade Satanic ideas and slowly slide them them into ever-deeper engagement with the real stuff, until they reach the point that they finally realize that they are literal Satan-worshippers and, having engaged in it so long, are ok with it.
It's easy to take a bunch of little steps in a certain direction and not realize you're really on the road to hell until very late, and that's the idea. What you start out believing "ironically" you will end up believing sincerely unless a miracle intervention happens.
It's an easy sell for a woman like this, because so much of her thinking is already Satanic, above all when it comes to infanticide. If right now she's only ironically devil-worshipping because [insert some 30K-word villain backstory about sex-positivity and getting back at the Christian rubes and killjoys she hates], it won't be long until she's into it full bore. Occultism stuff isn't something that people can harmlessly pick up and put back down again; she's invited things into her life now that she will find very hard to be rid off, if she even wants to be rid of it (not likely).
Even as a religious person, I understand why people become atheists. What I can't understand is how people could remain atheists in this day and age. It seems like every day things get clearer and the choices become starker. We are way past the materialist, atheist Weltanschauung of the intellectual libs of my childhood. I've thought since 2016 the unhinged rage of the libs at Trump's victory was spooky, maybe even a little demonic, but now it seems to be increasingly literally the case.
