Edit- Caracalla was both great and evil at the same time.
Dude did a lot of good for Empire and established birthright citizenship across the empire.
On the other hand? He annihilated eastern Europeans for the lulz and was big on death squads and tortures and the like.

They just make a cursory notice of one side being the "Nationalists" and one side being the "Republicans" and think there is some clear good guy/bad guy to this conflict which just shows how little they know.
yeah the 'republic' got up to some seriously heinous shit, there was a reason why the nationalists were able to get so much support so quickly.
And how little they want to know. The sort of people we're talking about tend to have a striking degree of incuriosity about pretty much everything.

It'll be really interesting to see how our grandkids learn about this insanity in school.
Probally under cover while trading fire with the other side of the civil war wondering why people didn't just tell the spoiled assholes no and prevent the civil war from happening in the first place.
