And in Poland we had much of the same, priesthood en masse collaborating with the Security Service apparatus. Heck, when the Round Table talks took place, part of the deal between the Catholic Church with General Kiszczak (head of security apparatus) was that security apparatus files of priests would never see the light of day (so many of them collaborated...).

Even so, the Orthodox Church was able to continue a conservative course, while Polish Catholic Church is divided into two factions: openly pinko liberals and not so openly liberals. Actually conservative priests who want to cleanse the Church of paedophiles and other shit are either sidelined (Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski, Dariusz Oko) or purged (Jacek Międlar).

Reasons for Russian decline after Soviet breakup (or should I say, controlled demolition) are... multi-layered and very complicated. The "West" gave Russia all the help to make sure it stays weak and can never rise back up as challenger again.

I agree. Fanatics who do not value human life rarely need a reason to go on a killing spree. Unfortunately for Islam, they have a LOT of such individuals. Unfortunately for the West, a lot of such people immigrated to the West. They are not integrating but colonizing. And this is going to come to a head and soon. And it will likely be very violent.

Now that isn't to say that Christianity and Aethist types don't have such people. We certainly do and probably in larger numbers than anyone would like. The problem is that Islam has turned Terrorism it into an international export business. Either way, stuff like this is going to keep happening for the forseeable future.

Muslims were preventing Christian Pilgrims from access to holy sites in the Holy Land. Either that or they were killing them or enslaving them. Pope had enough and called for the Crusade. The first Crusade. Christians stopped at the traditional Holy Land. Islam never stopped until they were made to stop. And even they they've never stopped, they've just shifted tactics.

Yes and no. Some will secularize, others will radicalize. Its just a matter of their experiences.
