Amazon Prime Rings of Power: Lord of the Rings on Amazon

The shill, in keeping with its twisted nature, continues to peddle falsehoods. @Circle of Willis does not let the lies slip by unnoticed, and calls them out. The shill, no doubt, will ignore the evidence, refuse to admit to any error, and will soon return to peddle the same or similar untruths with vicious malice.

Of course it's a delight to see the shill's false claims so thoroughly disproven every time. The down-side is that every time you carefully refute the shill's evident lies, you expend a lot of energy writing a long response -- which the dishonest shill then fully ignores anyway. the shill just goes on shilling. The shill wants you to waste your time on its deliberate acts of trolling.

To this end, I propose a simpler and more succinct pre-fabricated answer to such a creature, which is both a shill and troll, whenever its lies are detected:

Peter Jackson and other filmmakers related to the original New Line trilogies were approached to collaborate on Amazon's Project but after Amazon said they'd send them scripts, they never materialized.

Not really a big or scandalous story but some nice trivia.

Also Amazon paid the Tolkien Estate $250 million for the television rights for this series apparently.

Some good news regarding 'Rings of Power' and ScAmazon!

If it fails and depending on how much it fails with the hundreds of millions of dollars put into this fan project, it could seriously affect the future of Amazon Prime Streaming! :D

"My brothers. Hold your ground! Hold your ground. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of *woes* and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day. This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West."

I plan on ignoring the content completely.

I'll probably watch episode 1 and 2, then stop there.

If I can make it through.

Amazon needs the whole series to be a success. Watching the first episode or two won't make a difference. That's expected. What I have heard though, is that if this bombs, Amazon will probably start gutting its original content.

A reminder for the premiere and a request.
Alright everyone! Amazon's: Rings of Power will be debuting tomorrow and as such I am putting up this staff post as a friendly reminder.

I would also like to ask that people try to criticize the show fairly and try to dial back on the contentless dunking post, as by this point, I think we all know that this show is 'woke' so no major surprise should be had that being the case.

So basically, what I am saying is that while shoehorned in 'diversity' is understandably being memed and ridiculed, try to be a bit more nuanced and pick apart some of the other flaws or positives ("If there are indeed any.") beyond the culture war debate, such as acting, props, possible plot holes and a whole lot of other things.

Remember we are trying to grow this forum and letting culture war consume everything to the point we have no real discussion and pages upon pages of threads full of sh*tpost that all boil down to dunking on the culture war makes us kind of sound like a broken record so please add a bit of nuance and sprinkle some genuine discussion throughout your post to diversify the subject would be nice.

Thanks!

@Urabrask Revealed if you have the balls to laugh about something I say at least say why as nothing worth talking about is anything funny enough to be laughing about.

Reviews so far seem to be a mixed bag, with many 4 out of 5 star reviews contrasted by absolute beatings handed out by the Daily Mail and a few others. Can't google it all right now since I'm at work...

The absurdity of your optimism in spite of previous examples was so great, I couldn't help but laugh. I have no hopes for that series and would rather talk about the stuff Tolkien penned.

With all due respect, the "culture war" is a primary aspect of this series. It is not something that can be set aside and ignored, and it will undoubtedly also impact the quality of the show. I understand your concern about potentially scaring away new posters, but that ship said long, long ago. But then I'm also pretty sure such people do not exist anyway. So what you're asking would only serve to severely curtail what discussion is going on at the cost of essentially a theoretical conversation.

I'll do it right away, based on what we have seen in trailers:
1) acting - actors won't know how to act at all, so no acting
2) props - cheapskate props from nearest Wallmart
3) plot holes - the entire series will be one giant plot hole comprised of smaller plot holes
4) whole other things - none at all

Fact is, Rings of Power is nothing but an ideological project, designed to desecrate Tolkien's legacy and use it as a vehicle of Marxist propaganda. It has literally nothing else to stand on, no other merit, and nothing else to assess. Even if it achieves something, that will be by pure accident.

acting is white supremacy culture

2) props - cheapskate props from nearest Wallmart

good props are white supremacy culture

3) plot holes - the entire series will be one giant plot hole comprised of smaller plot holes

plots are white supremacy culture

4) whole other things - none at all

expectations are white supremacy culture

I have been studiously erasing this project from my consciousness. My predictions as someone who has only seen tiny snippets from trailers

1) Galadriel will be a badass warrior woman who rages against the expectations of her society, instead of someone who's power lay in her immense wisdom, charisma and insight

2) the elves themselves will be very feminine to contrast with the masculine (and failing) numenoreans

3) all the bad guys will be white

4) sauron will be portrayed as some kind of white incel

5) orcs will be shown in some way as rebelling against unjust elven aggression

I will go into episode 1 turning my brain off, trying not to think about the lore abortions, and just try to enjoy the spectacle. This is like the most expensive TV production ever, right? Surely the producers know how to retain audience interest. Hopefully it will have more spectacle than the first two episodes of House of the Dragons did.

Optimism? I have no fucking optimism! This series has always been pictured in my mind as a 'meh' at best since I first started hearing the rumors around it! You're acting like a jerk laughing in mockery in someone's face for no other reason other than a quick conclusion you jumped two and that is the un-politically correct truth of the matter!

I don't think Rings of Power will be great nor am I optimistic for the reasons you are implying! I am not some paid by Amazon bot!

The fact is that I am a man who loves criticizing series both good and bad, so I am going to be enjoying it regardless of if the series is good or bad as it gives me something to set my teeth into.

If you want to discuss LOTR thats fine and power to you but that thread isn't this one so contribute to it to get the ball rolling or stop acting like a jerk.

I am asking people at least try to go a least a little deeper in their criticism than 'Muh black hobbits' 'muh culture war' 'muh rings of power is woke' we shouldn't be complaining about the same shit we already know in an endlessly repeating loop with no sustenance added I want a more Indepth analysis of this shit as to why it conflicts with Tolkiens vison beyond the culture war itself, not repeated one off single paragraph comments.

Also note that I in no way said the culture war can't be discussed I just asked to diversify your comments into discussing some of the other aspects of the series beyond it rather than droning on about the same beaten to death topics we have been discussing for ten pages.

In other words there are two types of reviews.

Person A: "These pointless culture war add on's and overwriting of canon are an affront to Tolkiens works and here's why! (Shows a well thought out anaylsis of Tolkiens themse, his locations and how they conflict with Amazons adaptaion, the shity armour design, bad casting ect.)

Person B: WOKE SHIAT!!! Doesn't deserve my time! But I will make several other comments of this like later just so you know my obvious opinion again! *Does a tap dance off stage*

I would prefer a bit more of person A.
So apparently Amazon's Elrond will be gay. You know, Elrond - that guy who happily married Celeborn & Galadriel's daughter Celebrían and had three kids (including Arwen, Aragorn's future wife) with her. The reviewer cited by the article even notes that the decision was fairly obviously made deliberately to spite Tolkien's 'heteronormative' Catholic beliefs, as well.
