Russia-Ukraine War Political Discussion

That's not unique to the Russians. The Romans, for example, got their start abducting women and forcing them to bear their children. Everyone was a bag of dicks throughout most of human history, especially early on.
True. The problem with the Russians is that they never changed. Their default solution to unrest caused by their inept administration is forced relocation and cultural genocide. When the Soviets won against the Tsar they immediately turned on their ethnic allies. Massacres and deportations, redrawing the borders and scattering the various surviving groups all over Siberia. All in an effort to Russify them.

Even today there is ongoing efforts at erasing the ethnic enclaves all over Russia. Even if you take those reports with a pinch of salt as it were. There are too many reports of persecution from too many Human Rights organizations to all be propaganda. Groups are marginalized, funding and government services reduced or nonexistent far from the key Urban capitols of Moscow or St Petersburg. Employment and administrative positions in both private and public sector gated by Russian language, history and patriotism tests. Only against the natives of course. Ethnic Muscovite Russians are exempt.

Turns out that Su-34 fighter that crashed in Yersk a few days ago was from lack of maintenance.

Officially The base Commander blames it on the conscripts assigned to do the repairs. Before they got arrested those same conscripts claim they reported the problem to their Captain and asked for parts to be ordered. The Captain ordered them to sign the repair order completed, figure it out and ignored them. Whoops. I have a feeling that Captain will skate out of this and a lower ranked officer will be blamed alongside the conscripts. If it ever gets that far.

That's the third fighter in 30 days to have crashed due to maintenance failure or graft.

If their fancy new jets that can't be more than 10-14 years old are falling from lack of maintenance, that paints a truly grim picture of their air force.
Imagine how the pilots flying 40+ year old planes are feeling. Especially the models that need spare parts which can be worth few thousand extra bucks for the base or squadron commander in some ME or African shithole.

That particular plane in Yersk was only 6 years old. It was one of the planes that actually got ordered during Putin's show inspections.

Seeing as many officially full strength squadrons are under-equipped and under-manned because the CO made the order for equipment, bribed the official and pocketed the difference. The factory manager, the Quartermaster, Procurement Officer and the CO get their cut and all the paperwork have the proper stamps.

So officially the base has 30 Sukhoi aircraft, but actually has 12. Only six are operational at any one time because maintenence are forced to cannibalize the worst planes to repair the least damaged. That is of course if no one has substituted a cheap part for the official part and pocketed the difference. Or had one of the starving conscripts or privates stripping the planes internals to make a quick profit.

Is that a reference to the Commonwealth - Ottoman wars of the previous centuries?

Maybe we can get some more wingged hussars?

WolfBear Did you see on TVP the Ukrainian Hind attack chopper hugging the highway on the way to an attack? That chopper flew only a foot above the semi-truck's cargo trailer. That pilot must have had nerves of steel. He was weaving around power lines and poles.

No, I didn't. Do you have a link/source/reference?
