One can oppose globalism while also understanding that Russia and other rogue countries like it (China, Iran, potentially Turkey although lately Erdogan cooled down some) have to be contained for the sake of all. Anti-globalism doesn't have to mean wrapping all countries in in bubble-wrap, countries can still have defensive alliances, tight trade relations, responsible immigration etc, as long as they don't try to forcibly interfere in each other's cultures.

I think Erdogan is going to come out of this conflict with more Bayaktar orders than Turkey can fill.

I do not like Erdogan for some of his shit he's done in Syria and Iraq with regards to the Kurds, and that probably won't change.

But I know he is not really eager to play to Putin's fiddle, and Ukraine was/is a decent trading partner for Turkey, so Erdogan is going to keep helping Ukraine keep it's Bayaktar fleet operational.

It's just something I noticed because I grew up in politics outside of the US, but they quote afro-Caribbean politicians so often that it's almost like they've a closet fetish for it or something but if you bring it up to them they cognitively brick like you wouldn't believe.

I really think that it's a case of "it's different therefore it must be better. They are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and think that anything else almost has to be better than the current state by default, especially with previously existing systems. They completely forget or ignore that necessity, not oppression is the mother of invention and that every failure led us to this moment as well as success has led us to this moment.

If the old systems didn't have some sort of fatal flaw that could be cracked or exploited the states that still lived by them would still be the prominent ones.

Aa flawed as the US is and is suffering from rot, the fact that we are still one of the biggest dogs in the game despite deleberite sabatoge and that we have more people of all nationalities coming in as opposed to going out, in my eyes mean we are at least still doing a couple of things right.

Possibly, I always assumed they were mirroring other nativist movements from all over the world but didn't want to be seen as allying with them, when that was fairly common back in the day (See Skinheads, Reggae dudes and Powell followers all sort of siding with each other in the 70's.) because half of them are glowies and actual rightwing organizing even if by doofuses is a sin.

First off, most internationalism originated from the Left/Progressive wing of US politics.
Theodore Roosevelt for example ran as a Republican because he was too progressive for the Democrats.
Wilsonian Interventionism started the original push for "Making the world safe for democracy" and more trans-national institutions, think League of nations.
Hell, even Richard Nixon wanted to extricate himself from Vietnam, a war that JFK started and LBJ of Great Society fame greatly expanded.(LBJ was on the payroll of the predecessor of Halliburton, btw.)

Conservatism means you have stuff to conserve, stirring shit up halfway across the world without any real payoff when you clearly have no nation-level benefit is conserving nothing.
