Realistically, a buyer can just use Ice Queendom as the ideal launchpad for a remake. Even if you don't want to keep its original plotline, it still pretty effectively condenses the first volume without losing much of significance. Probably won't happen for 5-10 years though, they'll want time to let people forget the latter half of the show and build up hype/nostalgia. And that's assuming a buyer can still be found at this point. According to the Deadline article, most of the companies that expressed an interest in buying RWBY from WBD/RT have themselves died off already.
Oh well. Shane Newville's now working with another ex-RWBY animator who was inspired by Monty Oum and worked with him on parts of V3 before getting canned, Dillon Gu - seems they're mostly making Genshin Impact fan animations these days and
their latest video just hit 10 million views. Can definitely sense some of that early-RWBY magic in these scenes. It'd be pretty great if they could pony up the cash to take RWBY off Zaslav's hands and redo it their way, but I doubt they're
that rich. Even if they don't though, at least they can now have a laugh at the people who screwed them over all those years ago being taken out behind the shed while they're enjoying viral success which, ironically, rather mirrors that of the early RWBY trailers and V1-2.
