Taiwan Straights Tension

All of the TSMC facilities are within a few miles of the coast, in three different cities. If the CCP could get troops on the shore, they could probably get into into the buildings, for a little while at least. However, even if they took the whole island, it would be pretty simple for the US to bomb the buildings to the point that they were unusable. Easier to destroy than create.

Yep: as I said before, if Western Taiwanese troops occupy Taiwan, at that point the factories are strategic resources to be denied, not Taiwanese-controlled industry.

Taiwan saying that it's "against" this plan would be moot by that point, since they'd be like the Polish government in Exile saying they wouldn't "tolerate" the Nazis destroying certain pieces of infrastructure.

More like the French government telling the British not to sink their ships.

EDIT; Or, before that, the Danish government telling the British not to sink their ships.... Bit of a history of Britain sinking other peoples ships so they couldn't end up in the wrong hands.

Four day weekend means I can come terrorize the resident midwits.
Nice, but if you are smart and do not belive your shit,do not meet your soviet/china handlers alone. They could decide, that silencing you is cheaper.

I hope, that you are silly ,you would live longer.

Unless I missed the news article, they aren't. Based on recent wargaming results and what the USAF was saying since last Fall, it's obvious to see why now.
Funnily enough, literally the very first article to come up when I searched it says they'll be doing rotations of other fighters to replace them short term, with the long term not yet decided. But then, you're remarkably good at missing things that don't fit your internal narrative.

“While we have not made a decision on the long-term solution, all of the proposals under consideration include advanced capabilities that are superior to the F-15C/D. Until that decision is made, DoD will continue to use the Global Force Management process to provide backfill solutions that maintain regional deterrence and bolster our ability to uphold our Treaty obligations to Japan.”

Remember when multiple people argued with me in this thread about air superiority? So about that:

Yes, and the SAM made air power obsolete, and after that the latest Soviet Superplane meant that American/NATO aircraft would be swept from the skies, and after that Iraq's massive grid of soviet AA hardware would sweep coalition aircraft from the skies if they tried to invade, and after that the Chinese J-20 was going to outcompete the F-35, pay no attention to the chronic engine problems, or the cracks in the flight decks of their aircraft carriers...

The doomsayers about western military technology and power have been wrong literally every single time.

I get that you have warped your ability to perceive reality to the point that only things that agree with your prejudices are relevant, but you're just continuing to embarrass yourself.

So at this stage is the F-15 still "old but good" or just "old"?
Old but good. It has never been defeated in air-to-air combat, and Soviet stuff from similar area has been showing a consistently dismal comparative performance during the War in Ukraine. Odds are that the Chinese J-20 is actually better than the F-15 at least, but it's no longer a 'front-line' combat aircraft.

These days, the F-22 and F-35 will be used for air supremacy and SEAD, then once the space is clear, the F-15's F-16's, and F-15's will be trucking bombs into the combat area in bulk. All three of the 'teen' fighters still in service are good enough that they have reasonable chances of surviving against a SAM from a launcher that hid itself until after the front-line fighters have finished their sweep, but if someone fights smart, odds are we'd lose at least a few.

As always, the competence of the people using the hardware is just as important as the hardware itself, and while politicization has been hurting our military edge of late, our potential enemies are made of politicized incompetence.

It's still a solid "no bells and whistles" aka stealth\high speed or such plane.
Most of Russian and Chinese air fleet also consists of such no bells and whistles aircraft that often are less solid at that. The 2 most numerous tac jet models in PLAAF are J-7 (a spiffied up Mig-21) and J-10 (F-16ski).

Which is exactly what I said and, funnily enough, if you had bothered to read this thread before trying to argue with me on it, you would find I was the one that originally quoted that article back in October in here lol. You're so desperate to beat me you trip yourself up every time.

This is all largely bullshit, but this is not the thread to discuss your ignorance. As I claimed, and you argued with me upon in the past, the United States has largely given up on airpower in a Taiwan War and recognizes it will be a missile war as shown by their war games. Once again, the verdict of history shows I was right.

The doomsayers about western military technology and power have been wrong literally every single time.

Which is an odd thing to claim given that the last time the West fought a peer opponent was Korea, and they only achieved a draw in that war overall. As it were though, we were discussing airpower, not Western Tech in general. Perhaps you should know the topic before attempting to argue upon it?

I get that you have warped your ability to perceive reality to the point that only things that agree with your prejudices are relevant, but you're just continuing to embarrass yourself.

It is remarkable how much I make you seethe, truly it makes me so very, very happy to know I get under you skin. I'm that nagging voice in the back of your mind that cuts through all the bullshit you convince yourself of and that is why you simply can't resist arguing with me; to not do so would shatter the lies you've constructed for yourself.

Uh huh... Bullshit. Someone asked you what they're replacing them with. You said "They're not." The article litterally says they are. IDGAF what you said before, your answer here was either blatantly wrong or a blatant lie.

Okay, then name exactly what they've decided to replace them with long term.
