This is literally a joke. The 2020 vote was about 63.5% to 34.3%, while the recall vote was about 64% to 36%. An off-year recall election had less turnout than a presidential election, how shocking.
I was referring to the TL on John Bel Edwards that I'm working on right now.
Yeah, I know, it just made me think of the election memes I saw back when.

We're deeply in the red pretty much bankrupt have a small army of public officials about to retire and the boomers start the process of going into mass retirement next year so that's a structural credit crunch.

This was all before covid so yeah tomorrow is coming fast and the Dems own all of it.

Prepare for California to become a red state
I think they'd sooner become a Mad Max-style apocalyptic wasteland; either that, or something straight out of Escape from L.A.

California democrats being pissed about having to spend 276 million on a recall election because their constituents demanded it under the rules everybody agreed to whilst they're shoveling billions of dollars into the furnace of waste, graft, and corruption that is the high-speed rail project in the state is the most California thing imaginable.

One thing makes them accountable the other doesn't.

Since when do democrats give a shit about financial responsibility? Especially in California.

Far as I'm concerned money well spent.
I agree, the Republicans have made a big public effort to butt into California politics and have been soundly rebuffed. The Democrats own everything that is to follow and have not even a bloody stub to stand on when they inevitably blame Republicans for all their woes.

Since it impacts their nation wide warchest to the tune of 270 million dollars.

The Republicans only spent about 10 million on this recall, so contrary to what the Democrats try and claim it wasn't that big of an effort.

Yeah, I think I saw one spot for Larry Elder that came from the Republican side, everything else I saw came from the Democrats. And it was like everywhere all those Vote No spots, and as I mentioned before, those were where mostly I ever heard about any particular candidate (Larry Elder). If the plan was to waste a lot of Democratic party funds, then well done to the Republicans I guess.

The CA GOP will have to ensure that former San Diego Mayor Kevin Falcouner (R) is the nominee to go up against Newsom in 2022.

Just operator error guys! Nothing suspicious going on! It's not like we had the exact same thing happen in the 2020 election and we are on the complete bottom of public trust already!

When malice and incompetence are on the table the correct answer is usually incompetence.

Can you show any examples of 'incompetence' in either the 2020 election or this recall where it fell in favor of the Republicans, instead of the Democrats?

I recall hearing of one, somewhere out on the East coast, and that was it. Every single other example, it favored the Democrats.

In this instance the final vote tally was so in favor of "he should stay" that if there was malice it was probably someone trying to change the result to "he's gone".
Let that be a lesson for everyone; if you're going to cheat, make sure the results are so overwhelmingly in your favor so as to invoke peoples' incredulity that anyone could be so blatant.

In any event; if there wasn't malice and fraud behind him staying, then it was pure unadulterated idiocy on the part of a majority of Californians, and they deserve every bit of what's happened to them. As well as what's going to happen once the Dems run out of other people's money.
