In anycase, Pullman's rants and bias against both Tolkien, but especially Lewis are well known. (He's called the Anti-Lewis for a reason) The man has been complaining about Lewis as a far back as 1998 and still shows no signs of slowing down, although Tolkien is also a target, abet getting less complaints.Of course Pullman and people like him hate The Lord of the Rings. It shows us beauty they cant understand and this enrages them. But what's more: it also shows us the devil, and he looks like them.
Pullman...is it dude who in one of his book killed God using one of his characters?
Idiot.God either could not be permanently killed,or he is not God at all.
Thanks. But entire idea is Still stupid.Even demiurg could be killed only by another demiurg, not its creation. That's the joke, for Pullman, 'God' is just the demiurge, because he is a Neoplatonist, or at least writing His Dark Materials as one.

It's abundantly clear that the "anti-theist" crowd is really just the old bundle of gnostic heresies, dressed up in yet another new cloak. At the end of the day, these are all masks for some branch of satanism. ("No, no, God is evil and his enemy is the true saviour who will bring you Reason!") It doesn't even hid it. It literally advertises itself with "Yo, guys, the devil is actually the good guy, you know?"That's the joke, for Pullman, 'God' is just the demiurge, because he is a Neoplatonist, or at least writing His Dark Materials as one.

How does that even make sense? The sheer fucking incompetence of it. Claiming "God isn't real" and then, without pause, going on with "...but Satan is actually cool and stuff". Is their atheism so hollow that they can't even keep up the façade? (Yes, of course it is, because, again: it's not about not believing in God. It's about hating God. Which is, again, pure satanism. And makes no sense at all for someone who truly believes God isn't real.)
To stay on topic, this whole line of discussion remids me of Tolkien's plans to write a sequel to LotR:
"I did begin a story placed about 100 years after the Downfall, but it proved both sinister and depressing. Since we are dealing with Men, it is inevitable that we should be concerned with the most regrettable feature of their nature: their quick satiety with good. So that the people of Gondor in times of peace, justice and prosperity, would become discontented and restless — while the dynasts descended from Aragorn would become just kings and governors — like Denethor or worse. I found that even so early there was an outcrop of revolutionary plots, about a centre of secret Satanistic religion; while Gondorian boys were playing at being Orcs and going around doing damage. I could have written a 'thriller' about the plot and its discovery and overthrow — but it would have been just that. Not worth doing."
(Emphasis mine.)
But really, imagine that. Tolkien thought even writing about it wasn't worth doing. Imagine actually subscribing to such ideas. Being that sad would surely make one hate Tolkien!
Pretty much my viewpoint. I don't really have anything against God because I don't think he's any more real than Zeus is, and view him in the same light. I don't even have a problem persay with his fan club, it's just that certain parts of it can be real assholes, and those are the people I have a problem with.To soviet atheist organization come new member, sit and listened how everybody was cursing God.Finally, they asked him why he is not cursing God,too-
and he answered: "becouse i do not belive in God."

Incidentally I view myself as agnostic, though sometimes I wonder if apathetic might not be a better label.
Well, there are old religions for atheists, too - buddhism and confucianism, for example.
I would argue that those are examples of pantheism rather than atheism proper. I can get along with orthodox and traditional examples of each (but not memie Yank poseurs.)
Real Buddhists are based AF.
