To be fair a lot of said price increases are the fact that a lot of your airforces infrastructure hasn't been touched since the 60s and even the 50s and now your going from early 4th generation bird to 5th. That requires expensive upgrades

Plus a lot of other military upgrades that previous Canadian PMs had not bothered to tackle. Wouldn’t Canada be better off buying new hardware from South Korea though? The South Korean defense industry is surprisingly robust.

The original deal would have Canada producing a large number of components locally, would have at least mitigated the infrastructure costs.
