Its a political realignment and when you look at the dots that create a lasting coalition there isnt enough room for both the socialists and the business democrats. The smart move would have been to let Bernie win the primaries and crash and burn in September and then put all of the blame on the socialists and create a new party from the ashes.

You are right about Republicans though. Some are useless, some are functionally or outright enemy agents, some are actually solid, it varies.
