Make another? I mean thats a joke but there is a lot of talk about extending this thing and even making it permanent. Not limited to a single country either but it kinda feels like the old adage about governments never give up emergency power thing is holding true.

Them continuing this beyond vaccination, is politically and socially impossible. Some Governors might give it a go, but they'd either get eaten alive by their citizens or slapped down hard by the Federal Government. Thing is about elites, they do like having functional societies to lord it over and current restrictions make that quite hard. Also, Covid restrictions demand human beings to go against their very nature; that is impossible to maintain in the long run. They have barely managed it for a year, and once the vulnerable are jabbed, the last remnants of compliance, of paying lip service to these absurd restrictions, just disintegrate. There's a reason the Stalinists and the Maoists didn't try this.

You underestimate their arrogance. Before Trump, the establishment had spent decades getting away with anything and everything, and now they've gotten away with one of the most blatant power grabs in the history of our nation; so from their perspective, why not go for broke? After all; despite all of our hopes, everyone at every level in the government has either proven unwilling, or unable to stop them thus far. We had four years, and what little there is to show for it will be quickly undone under a new administration. As for the citizenry; there is no legal recourse left available to them. The vote is dead as an institution, and the courts refuse to do their jobs; the only remaining option is something the previous administration of this forum was very keen on suppressing the discussion of.

People are nearing their break down point right now.

Another 2 years of lock downs and you will have anti democrat riots, another 4 years and you have dead lefties in the street. On top of that Hollywood bled money like crazy during this whole crisis if the dems extend it another 2 years they will turn on them out of survival.
