Oh certainly. Problem was your (alleged) leader and his cabinet, and whoever conviced or manipulated him, or whatever, NEVER cared for what's best.

It's already a miracle if by chance he cares little for his country, let alone another.
 
Speaking of the Kurds... It's more spiritual than historical, but I think it's karma that they are not having their country due to some of them partecipating in Armenian genocide.

I apply to us Italians as well for the Roman empire, Portuguese and Spanish for theirs too, otherwise I don't know what else the Mediterranean countries had such a big streak of being unlucky for the last 200 years.

Italy is the 8th richest country in the world, Spain is number 14, and portugal is number 49 the last one doesn't seem impressive until you remember Portugal has like 10 million people. If your in the top 20 economies in the world and the world has over 200 countries in it your not doing bad.

Yes Italy isn't doing as well as it used to during the roman era, but Italy's position in the center of the meds world while god like in that era isn't in an era of trans atlantic trade, the med went from being the center of the western world into a box containing Italian power, and yet its still the 8th richest country on the planet.

All three countries are actually doing ok when compared to international standards.

Agree somewhat on this; OTOH, most of the politicians we have nowadays(whether leftist or "rightist") were nurtured by the military governments.

Anyway, this isn't really a historical opinion, but more of an observation: A lot of US troops in WWII were white nationalists and even white supremacists who presumably saw no contradiction between protecting other white people from Nazi tyranny in Europe while oppressing black people here at home in the US:


If you want an actual unpopular historical opinion, I think that the Confederacy did the Union a huge favor by seceding since otherwise it would have been astronomically more difficult to ever ratify the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the US Constitution, The way it happened, though, the ratification of these Amendments was essentially made a precondition for the ex-Confederate states to rejoin the Union.

Any mass murdering system cannot last for long. Meaning that open mass murder is not the worst thing that can happen to a country. The worst thing to happen to any society is a system that causes a long-term destruction of a system of values... because such a system then produces physical evils that do not stop. And unlike Nazism, which tried to do that and then failed because it was too openly evil, Communism succeeded. Especially once it managed to merge with the liberal democracy.

In a sense (only in this specific sense), Balts should be grateful for the fact that their countries were occupied by the Soviet Union for almost half a century since it ensured that their countries would be flooded with Slavs (mostly Russians) rather than with Muslims and Africans like Scandinavia was. Having any Baltic cities turn into Malmo would have been a huge shame, after all.

Muslims - certainly.Africans - polish patriot,Gan-Ganowicz, who fought commies and mercenary,noted that african could be as cruel as soviets,but more cyvilised - they,for example,do not purposely shit in captured homes,which soviet army always did.

Most of the worst immigration into Europe didn’t even start to happen until after the fall of the Soviet Union. Go back to the early 1990’s and Muslims in Europe were far fewer in number.

Though ironically the communism of the Soviet Union may have protected Eastern Europe from capitalist social leftism.

Eastern europe was forced to learn the hard way what that shit leads to. This is a reason why I think the entire west will go hardcore traditionalist when all of this shit finally ends.

Maybe, but AFAIK, France, for instance, began importing large numbers of Muslims before the Cold War was over. Especially (but not only) Maghrebis. Still, no doubt that this trend continued after the end of the Cold War.

There are people here in South Africa (young black males, of course) who on learning that they were HIV-infected, abandoned all protection measures because they thought that they now had nothing left to lose.
Sometimes they will quite deliberately try to infect as many other people as possible. "Why must I die alone?"

There are people here in the States that it's actually some kind of a fetish for. California downgraded that from a felony to a misdemeanor, incidentally.
