Even when times are bad, there are those who set their course against the prevailing winds and embrace the struggle for something better. This thread is for them.
It's never the time for violence; up until it suddenly is, and it's completely impossible to predict when that might be.
There already was a civil war previous summer, your side lost. Now the country is in the vae victis phase.if that fails my money is that we get full civil war in the 2060s.

2060? There won't be anyone capable fighting a civil war by then.
Here's hoping life-extension technology matures soon enough that those responsible have to stick around to see the consequences of their actions.that was not civil war, 2020 was a shit show no doubt, but ask our south american posters, african ones, or people who grew up in the balkans, that was nothing. The populist response to the current order has just been born, were not at the ending we are at the begining and dear god it is going to suck.
Agreed. At this rate, 2022 or thereabouts will be the deciding factor, mark my words. There already was a civil war previous summer, your side lost. Now the country is in the vae victis phase.

Really late, but personally I hope humanity never conquers death. Death comes for us all and is the one thing that the powers that be are incapable of bargaining with or avoiding. The one thing that gives me satisfaction is that these ghouls are incapable of cheating death. Delay it all they want, but the grim reaper will get his harvest of their souls sooner or later. Here's hoping life-extension technology matures soon enough that those responsible have to stick around to see the consequences of their actions.
Who said anything about conquering death? I was talking about conquering old age. You'd still die eventually, whether it be from an accident, violence, or something else; it's just that your lifespan would be measured in centuries, perhaps even millennia, rather than decades, and the latter end of it won't be marked by your body slowly deteriorating until it falls apart on you.Sounds like that guy found the spiritual fulfillment that is in such short supply these days.

you guys have been saying the same thing every couple of years since George W. Bush
Then you need to figure out why the approval of others mediates your enjoyment of a thing. What if part of the reason for me not enjoying things anymore is people constantly telling me what I should and should not do and/or be ashamed of what I'm enjoying and they won't stop meming.
And from what I gather, Trade school is on the riseI consider this a good sign.
College enrollment is lower now than it's been at any time in the last half-century
You know college—the hugely expensive four-to-six year investment of time and resources that many students spend their entire lifetimes paying off? Yeah for some reason more people are opting out of it:notthebee.com
Maybe they will bring back those expensive shop classes to high schools. They were legitimately useful, shame they mostly got cut out of existence. And from what I gather, Trade school is on the rise
