Guess I'm lucky I never played AL. Does the game force you to wear that Black Supremancy thing, or are you at least allowed to ignore it existing in your inventory?

Oh yeah... This'll be a definite improvement over the last film.

Joseph Aberl at Murphy’s Multiverse claimed to reveal new details on the film. He wrote, “The film will follow a Comanche woman who [defies] her culture’s norms and decides to become a warrior.”

Aberl went on to reveal casting information regarding this man character. She will be named Kee, which means “no” in Comanche. Along with Kee, she will be joined by her brother Taabe that means “sun.”

So funny. Such powerful metaphors and symbolism.

Yeah... it's not like there was loads of controversy with the woman in the Predators film being a badass IDF sniper portrayed by Alice Braga, but then again it wasn't marketing the Predators film as showing a strong female heroine eschewing the backwards gender roles of her traditional Orthodox Jewish upbringing and joining the IDF to become Lyudmila Pavlichenko reborn or something.

She was just a character who was established just enough to be there. Capable and competent and female enough to not just be another one of the boys. Amazing how that works. Plus you don't get the same outcry over Ripley who was a rather prominent character in the related Aliens verse. Or the tough Latina Cop, Detective Cantrell who was so fun in her portrayal by Maria Contrita in Predator 2.

So it seems pretty clear that the fact the individual is Female isn't exactly the issue here.

Edit:

Plus I'm a fan of the Female Predator from the AvP EU though I only have one receipt for proof of it on TS. :p

I have no doubt that this will be yet another typical Hollywood portrayal of Natives, which will manage to come off as racist even if they're trying to "honor" us. Actually the description of defying her tribe's cultural norms makes me think they're leaning into it - it makes me think they think of Natives as they are typically portrayed in westerns. Oh, she's going to become a warrior? So she's going to join the army?

I don't know. Are they? I was talking about the joke they made and pointing out the hypocrisy of it.

Something you want to bring up?

IIRC vaccinations of Palestinians in israel & the occupied Palestinian territories has been pretty slow going. The israelis argue that's because the Palestinians don't trust the israeli vaccine & prefer the Russian one, but regardless of the cause the joke they're making here is hardly baseless.

Don't really like smearing jokes, especially ones based in reality, as "antisemitic" or "racist."

I'm sorry if I offended you by apparently smearing Michael Che for the metaphor but you seem to have failed to understand the point of my post and strawmanned a new meaning into it.

First off, I never brought "racism" into it.

Secondly I wan't smearing the joke for being antisemitic. I was smearing the hypocrisy in regards to the SNL episode also featuring Gina Carano for faux-antisemitism. Sorry, I don't feel like being gaslighted by you today.

It sounds like you really have something to say about Israel or the Jews you really want to get off your chest. Maybe you can open a thread about it somewhere else?

Oh Thank White Christ!

New York Post said:
The disclaimer shown prior to each episode warns viewers that the show features “stereotypes” and “mistreatment of people or cultures.”

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,” the disclaimer states.

“Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together,” the disclaimer says.

I mean it could be worse but at least they didn't edit everything out... I'm assuming. There is one thing I gotta check before they realize what they included in the show and would probably want to santize...

If anything that backdrop is exceptionally inclusive by todays standards. :sneaky:

Except Gina Carano isn't anti-Semitic.
You're forgetting that the regressive left likes to redefine what words mean; in this particular context, "anti-semetic" means "inconvenient to the narrative that all Star Wars fans hate women". Most of the time though, it just means "espouses opinions the regressive left doesn't like"; which is a definition that can also be applied to words like "racist", "sexist", "ableist", "transphobic", and many, many others.

How was it "antisemitic?"

Speaking of muppets...

How was it "antisemitic?"

🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔

In the same episode of Saturday Night Live where they make fun (poorly) of Gina Carano for supposedly being an antisemite, they engage in antisemitic humor. (y)

I was talking about the joke they made and pointing out the hypocrisy of it.

Are we at like three strikes now? But you keep on swinging! :poop:

I love it when supposedly intelligent people can't even grasp the basics of conversation without it being painfully pointed out to them in obvious detail.

"Durr she said it was antisemitic durr... look at this quote durr..."

I'm not sure whether I need to point out the obvious now because it seems so self evident, or to just wait and see if you'll respond with the exact same point as before and keep babbling like a bot incapable of human communication because your either too stubborn or too stupid to master the obvious point of my original post.

I was just making a suggestion. If you want to derail this thread because your dying to share your thoughts about Jews and Israelis here, don't let me stop you. :sneaky:

The ironic thing with Gina Carano is that in her post, she never even referenced the Holocaust or equated the experience of the Jews with that of Republicans or Conservatives, but the Twitter mob was more then willing to editorialize everything about what she said and report it as supposed fact.

After having almost sixty operators... statistically this was inevitable.

The main issue I have... beyond the fact that he's so flagrantly gay in that picture that you can't help but title the story "GAY OPERATOR" is that all of the Rainbow Six Siege Operators have quirky fun backstories but I can't recall "ZOFIA IS R6's FIRST WORKING MOTHER OPERATOR" ever featuring prominently in the title of a gaming journalist website which tends to shade things poorly as being just more pandering.

Also the fact he's not a member of law enforcement/military but some sort of civilian Robin Hood style vigilante... it's almost eye roll inducing. But it would be less so I guess I feel if he wasn't fabulously gay as well... and Argentinian on top of that. I don't think there is a Gay Robin Hood Argentinian/LatinoLatinx stereotype but I feel like that it could still seem cliche? :p
