Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

We dodged a bullet:
Wolves. Fucking wolves. Filoni just can't stop himself from inserting his fetish-animal in every media he participates in, eh?
Also, why the hell is Coruscant now a ruin? That planet has more life-forms than the majority of planets in Star Wars combined!
Not to mention the people stuck in the lower levels of the city-planet. You can't tell me the government gives a shit about them.

The PT was never “space C-SPAN)” like some people complained. Senate scenes happen but they are usually one or two per movie.

There are plenty of things people can complain about the PT for, some more legitimate than others-but this was always an odd criticism.

The fact they planned on blowing up Coruscant just as a dig at the PT, tells you everything you need to know about the ST’s writers.

What you mean?
I think he's referring to how the Disney Series goes out of its way to undermine and discredit various facets of the prequel films. Look at Jake Skywalker's anti-Jedi rant, how the New Republic is turned into an even stupider version of the Old Republic for examples. i'd give more, but the only film I've actually seen is The Force Awakens- I got wind of how bad The Last Jedi was I never saw it. Same goes for the Rise of Skywalker.

Also this:
Originally, JJ wanted to blow up Coruscant in TFA.

Never mind how the literal opening line of the DT is "this will begin to make things right" (after the prequels).

It would have made more sense than inventing a planet with no background or connection to the viewer, and cemented the First Order as truly out-of-control villains.

In A New Hope, we only cared about Alderaan's destruction due to its connection with Leia and Kenobi's reaction to it. Blowing up Coruscant would have had actual impact because we knew the world, and the sheer death toll from such an act would have shown how truly unhinged the FO was. It also would help explain why the New Republic collapsed so easily, complete a loss of government and bureaucracy all at once, and likely a huge moral hit to the galactic populace as the planet had been the heart of galactic government for millennia.

I have to admit, I'm rather surprised to see so many PT defenders. I don't really find them to be any better than the ST, personally, which is part of why them bashing on it is kind of hilarious in a way for me.

Since this seems to be the general thread,

A new space game, seems fun. Please lets not cry EA WILL RUIN, when we know they can do good, BF V after launch got better, BF 1 was good, Battlefront 2 was bad launch but got better.
So lets give them the benefit of the doubt

I’m very much a PT supporter. The PT’s main issue comes fundamentally due to Lucas struggling with the human aspect of his story. He was never very good at it even during 1977.

The PT has a vision, an aesthetic, a story. It contributes to Star Wars.

The ST has done and is none of these things.

Nah, sorry, DisneyWars ran out their "benefit of the doubt" free passes in 2018. Everything they put out should be assumed to be garbage until proven otherwise, and even then you need to be wary of Stockholm Syndrome making you think mediocre shit is the best thing ever (Mandalorian, Fallen Order, TCW).

To be fair that stuff is the best star wars stuff we have gotten recently.

Even if it's mediocre compared to other stuff its the very pinnacle of that niche.
