Sorry, but unless you personally have recently run for and won office, 'people like' you haven't won crap. What has happened is that some politicos have worked out a new branding strategy, turning your anger into reliable funding, primary votes, and social media clickbait. Of the three, it is the first that they really care about.
Do you think Gaetz, for example, gives a crap about, or has anything remotely approaching a plan to address, the budget deficit that might be enacted at some point before the Boomers finish draining the so-called social security fund? Fuck no. But he can get on social media with his shit-stirring, and thereby guarantee a constant flow of small donor payments to his various associated PACs and orgs. As a plus, he is now viewed as important enough to actually buy off, by the lobbying firms in DC, which is another nice income stream. This isn't some grand cause to him, it is a business model. That folks can not pick up on something so bloody obvious is astounding.
The goals you claim to want - jailing sizable portions of the feds (and associated beltway bandit contractors), disbanding ivy league and ivy-league wannabe colleges, etc? Not only are they never going to happen, but your so-called leaders and fighters are never even going to make a serious attempt at achieving any of them. Why? Because they know well enough that trying is pointless.
Want to make a realistic impact on colleges? Get the feds out of student loans, and forces colleges to issue loans directly to their enrollees/customers. Watch what happens to pricing, indoctrination, and course offerings then.
Want to cut back on feds doing heinous and illegal crap? Start sunsetting regulations, and keep Congress from reinstating Chevron via legislation. Will never happen, because Chevron and administrative state delegation is the best thing to ever happen to Congress.
Want to sort out the budget and save social security for granma? Start reducing all non-interest outlays (spending). Not by massive amounts, just 1% a year, off the prior year top line, no inflation adjustment for anything, anywhere. In a decade we'll back to those horrifying austerity years of the Bush-Clinton budgets. I seem to recall a distinct lack of hordes of geezers dying in the streets back then.
Is anyone in DC putting those into bills and trying to push them through Congress? Not that I've heard. Why? Because they don't actually care about that. They're not in DC to save you, or America, or much of anything else. They're in DC for one or two pet causes, from a decade or more ago when they first got interested in politics, and which they have often long since forgotten about. They are in DC to be in DC, to be powerful and high status, to be on TV and courted by lobbyists, to get their friends and family favors and positions. Nepotism isn't the embarassing scandal, it is the point, for most of them, most of the time.
This isn't the grand leaders of the people fighting against the evil elites - the story you've been sold. This is the slightly less favored, less-entrenched elites using you to help them secure power and privilege from those currently at the top of the shitpile.
Once they've gotten their sinecures, they'll drop you and your issues, and never look back.
Look at Trump and the courts - he had to promise to appoint Federalist Society judges in his first administration, in order to get party support. He has publicly blamed those same appointments for costing him and his elections. Think he is going to do that again? Fuck no. His entire promise to the right, on a cultural level, now boils down to: "I won't actively try to fuck you over, maybe, and by being such a huge and irresistible target, will hopefully distract those who hate you, for a little while, probably."
Economically, well, he's a protectionist idiot, just like Biden. Probably favor different industries, but the same shitty ideas are still shitty. Somewhat less likely to blow up the deficit even more trying to shower money on leftists. I give him better than even odds of trying to pull the same kind of dumbassery to push money to his supporters though. Which means, even more inflation to come.
yay
Hell, even if he wanted to move the needle on your issues, he won't be able to - he'll be a lame duck from day one, with little to no political capital, and zero way to push the other side to play ball. At best (assuming the scatter brained narcissist or his hangers on remember) he might revoke Biden's crappy executive orders. Which would be great, assuming the bureaucracy was raring to defy them and only needed presidential permission. Not exactly the case, now is it?
Our best case is 4 more years of riots and resistance, while everyone investigates anyone who was ever remotely associated with Trump for, effectively, heresy. Is that better than (Jill) Biden part 2, leftier, feebler, and less competent?
Hopefully.
But, not exactly the amazing, energetic, fundamental turnaround that you argue that the country needs.
The best advice I can give you on politics is to stop feeling and start thinking. It is of course, the last thing anyone professionally involved in politics, on either side, wants you to do. Will that mean you end up agreeing with me on everything, or even anything? Unlikely. But at least you'll be deciding for yourself, and not letting social media algorithms (yes, the right uses them too) lead you around by the nose.
