I don't know because I don't know what kind of foreign business deals Trump's sons actually made when they controlled his businesses.

So... you're just assuming that's what they did with no evidence.

Was the Iran nuclear deal really that bad?

Yes.

It was made illegally. Obama way overstepped his authority making it and had Kerry making secret adjustments to it on the fly. If it weren't for a few Republicans joining with democrats to say "You went to far Obama! But we are going to ignore that and pretend your illegal treaty is the same as a regular treaty" it would have immediately been thrown out.

It gave Iran billions of dollars and the ability to expand their nuclear infrastructure to within a step or two of nuclear weapons as long as Iran promised not to make nuclear weapons. Iran could back out of the deal at any point. And it basically made the USA responsible for defending Iran from any direct military attacks from Israel.

This was one of the main (but far from the only) reasons that Israel went so hard in supporting the American right during Obamas presidency. It was a complete betrayal of Israels previous relationship with us and embracing one of their main antagonists instead.

Edit: Aaaand I just remembered this is the VA and NJ thread sooo... I'm dropping it.

...is this a joke, rhetorical question, or do you seriously not understand how the deal helped fund Iranian proxies in Syria and other places?

That's before we get into the whole 'Islamic extremists with nukes' issue that come with Iran trying to get nukes.

Are Iranian proxies really worse than the US-sponsored al-Qaeda-affliated Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria?

Then we can conclude, once again, Trump is an idiot or a coward.
Okay, I need you to answer this question honestly: Do you believe Donald Trump should have ordered a flat-out coup, disbanded Congress, and ruled as a dictator? Because my point is that the office of President does not have appropriate powers for what you wanted him to do. Him doing what you wanted would have been flat-out illegal, because he was not a legislative official.

What is so hard to grasp about that? That the President is not, in fact, capable of making the government make a one-eighty? Trump was being fucked over so comprehensively that generals flat-out lied to him to stay in Syria. He did very nearly everything that was in his power and awareness, but that did not work because Uniparty bullshit had powers to stop that, entirely inside the bounds of the law, and went outside the bounds of the law to stonewall him even more, and kept him in the dark.

In other words:
Let's also acknowledge the beauty of you admitting there is exactly zero reason to vote for him as President again because he is ineffective in that position.
My position is that voting for anyone at all being President on such a platform is fundamentally pointless. Because the office of President does not have the power to deal with this shit in the first place. The US government was literally designed to not yield to top-down pressure of that sort. You have to vote out the Congressmen to directly remove the Uniparty officials.

Folks getting triggered over there in Richmond ?

It”a less about “getting triggered”….and honestly, I hate that damn phrase, it sounds more like something trolls use to disparage anyone and prevent any real meaningful dialogue. It’s more to do with constituents who are getting fed up with being dismissed as “Nazis, fascists, racists, homophobes” and other various “Isms” if they so much as dare to oppose or disagree with some other viewpoint, especially if said viewpoint comes from a lofty tower of smug self-righteous hypocrisy.

VA Dems will bounce back in 2025.

That remains to be seen. Seeing as how they’re eagerly racing right over the cliff I’m not holding my breath.

Virginia is a bit more complex than some give it credit for. It’s nothing like California or New York…something the Dems seem to have forgotten.
Speaking of VA: State Del. AC Cordoza (R) of the 91st District puts the VA Legislative Black Caucus on full-blast for rejecting him from joining.

FNC's Rachel Campos Duffy thinks it's time to eliminate the Black Caucus, Latino Caucus, etc.,

National Review did a piece on it.

Looks like a literal case of Joe Biden's motto "If you don't vote for me, you ain't Black."

Was the Iran nuclear deal really that bad?

Let me put it this way. The stated objective was allegedly to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. However, the negotiators and anyone who knew about it (including Obama and Kerry) privately admitted it wouldn’t actually do that, just delay it for at most ten years. This is what’s generally known as “kicking the can down the road”.

Meanwhile, for all the alleged “liberalization” in Iran, it’s still fundamentally a theocratic oligarchy controlled by people who had no problem murdering U.S. soldiers in Iraq or causing general fuckery in the Middle East, because they’re still committed to “spreading the Islamic Revolution.” Any “moderation” is really just the Iranians getting better PR (though there was a brief window in 2001-2002 where we were working alongside them because we both hated Osama and the Taliban more than each other).

Anyway, yes. Yes it was.

Well, what about Trump's friends the Saudis killing Jamal Khashoggi?

In all honesty, nobody actually gives a fuck. Especially because it’s since come out that he was often doing puff pieces and whatnot on the Saudis’ behalf instead of being some “feared truth teller.”

Sure, bin Salman was a fucking idiot but on a scale of 1-10 of “godawful things repressive regimes do” this is maybe a 3. It just blew up because some of the Washington press corps actually knew him.

VA Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) applauding the amendment of State Senator Chap Petersen (D), whom I refer to as the Kyrsten Sinema of VA, which gives parents the right to decide whether their children should be wearing masks in schools:

Well, there are still people who realize that politicians do have to listen to the voters.

In other (and worse) news, New Jersey passed the deceptively named “Reproductive Freedom Act” last month. Among other things it:

1) Guarantees abortion be permitted for all nine months up to actual birth

2) Removes conscience protections for doctors who refuse to perform abortions

3) Tries to bind any future legislatures from overturning or amending this act.

4) Allows for people other than doctors to do abortions despite no surgical training.

Oh, and the best part? This was by the jackasses who got defeated back in November. They decided to shove this through in a lame duck session despite NJ voters clearly sending a message to stop fucking around.

New Jersey, Jesus, thank fucking Christ I was stuck there for only a year. Could not leave that shithole fast enough.
