Baen Books Bar Gets "Parlered"

Quite simply put its time to sue the people responsible for cancel culture its time to legally go after them, no more defense now we go out and we hit their pocket book.
And who specifically do you sue, and what exactly for?

Sad news about Baen though, they publish some real schlock but also some real gems and I've long appreciated their public attitude generally.

Anyone who puts out these hit-pieces, and hit them for slander.
Yeah, there's a reason I used the words "specifically" and "exactly" in my post. It's very easy to say "This vague thing should be done to the bad people!" but when you start looking into the particular rather than the general the problems quickly become apparent and it's clear why it doesn't happen very often and generally doesn't work out when it is tried.

The person who wrote this hit-piece should be sued for slander, in addition to any damages caused by this coordinated letter-writing campaign's effort to get them deplatformed. Also, the rag that published the hit-piece should likewise be sued for publishing it and their part in causing damages through this deplatforming effort.

Who's being slandered? Who has standing to sue? The only really plausible answer to those questions is Baen themselves, but how are they being slandered? The article spends a lot more time saying "These people on the site said X" and tends to quote them. In regards to Baen themselves, pretty much all they've said that isn't pure opinion is "They haven't done anything about this." which is objectively true whether you think they should have done something or not. Say they do try to make a case though, what kind of damages do they seek? How much business have they lost because a third party (the service providers) did something in response to complaints that came from other third parties, in reaponse to the article? How much, as in a specific percentage or dollar figure, can you attribute to the article writer? Even if the article was factually wrong (Despite the quotes provided for what he claims was said.) rather than just being 'wrong' when it comes to his opinion and interpretation of those facts (Which obviously isn't actionable.) can you prove he was acting maliciously and knowingly false, with the intent to damage Baen?

And here's a link to the hit piece. I am kinda of the opinion a C & D letter should be fired off:

And here's Toni's response.

Kind of telling that not even a place like Vice would pick it up.

Oh Kratman... He needs someone to dump a bucket of ammonia on him to cool off.

Wait, did that "Investigative report" seriously link to a thread on sufficient velocity as evidence Baen is overrun with delusional fanatics? In what world does that sort of crap fly as "investigative reporting?"

Speaking of that report, Baen author and card carrying hardcore socialist Eric Flint has chimed in:

I’m not in the least bit intimidated by right wing goons. But here’s what else I’m not intimidated by. I also don’t give a damn what people like Jason Sanford think. He’s the type of more-progressive-than-thou so-called leftwinger who is never worth a damn in a real fight but is always instantly ready to denounce someone else as being insufficiently rigorous in their prosecution of the great struggle against wrong thinking. With “lefties” like Sanford around, you don’t need reactionaries.

Ouch.

This Jason Sanford guy has so much integrity his Twitter profile went to private very recently.

Kratman is the Special needs charity case of BAEN....Why in the fuck...

Man leftists are desperate for clout.
Kratman is the lowest hanging fruit possible on the subterranean tree. Why has Baen not disassociated with him?

Wait, really? There's a hate cult dedicated solely to Kratman on SV and SB that's probably larger and more fervent than his actual fandom. They really like a guy that fulfills all their preconceptions of a right-winger.

I mean, in fairness to the hate cult, Kratman went out of his way to make Athene a character in his book just to shit on her. IIRC, he literally made a gender confused tank just so he could insult the tank, and thru the tank, Athene.
