Japan also banned it, and the G7 banning it means other nations cannot do business with Russia and then turn around and try to convert that Russian gold into USD.

Or did you forget SWIFT is a thing, and the sanctions do extend to 'laundering' operations in other nations as well.

They don't want USD, the Russians have been building up reserves of alternative assets. Again try reading news from India Africa and South America, you are stuck in the western bubble, but hey if you wanna be surprised at the shortages that are already starting to occur be my guest.

You misunderstand.

The countries taking in Russian gold, so they can do non-USD/non-ruble based transactions, would like to be able to turn that gold into USD.

These bans mean those other countries can no longer turn the gold they get from Russia into USD.

Edit: Think of it as similar to the sanctions on African blood diamonds; the bans mean you cannot sell/exchange Russian gold for goods/USD with any nation that is part of SWIFT.

You could sanction African diamonds because in the end all they made was jewelry, sanction oil, fertilizer and other necessities and see how far you get, you seem to think the dollar is valued beyond being a means of exchange. The problem is a means of exchange which excludes a large part of humanity is pointless. There is a reason during the cold war the US navy defended USSR shipping,, and it wasn't out of kindness the US has forgotten what has to be done to maintain the reserve currency,, and we will all pay the price.. but then I can't convince you, so if you are right the US economy will recover promptly, and things will be gumdrops and ice cream, but if I am right, a storm is coming, but hey as your groceries and gas get harder and harder to afford, just tell yourself you are approaching the final victory, mein herr.

India is seeing how the Chinese are taking a active part in trying to take control of Russia.
So India is going more towards the west.

I don't listen to the Russian government i don't read sputnik, or RT I read news from countries like India because I want to know what the neutral parties are saying. As for Ukraine, no I don't blame it on that, it is a combination of that and other factors. Most notably the refusal of the EU, and US to build alternatives prior to sanctioning a geopolitical rival. For instance we have a global fertilizer shortage and the EU is worried about their climate goals, meaning they don't want to build alternatives to Russian fertilizer.
