We are in full blown 1984 territory here.
If they don't like reality, they will change definitions to fit the reality they prefer.
So no, we aren't in a recession because that's no longer how we are defining a recession. Everyone who supports the left is just going to go with this.

Just wait until they redefine "Military Service" to show that there aren't actually any recruitment problems going on, and an overwhelming number of Blue voting people who, perhaps technically wouldn't have been considered military before but now count (We need to give all trans people access to free healthcare as Veterans because of the extreme PTSD being addressed by the wrong pronoun can inflict, it's far worse than merely being shot at and having your best friend bleed out in your arms), can use absentee ballot processes to bypass normal safe and fair voting laws.

Yeah, it seems to me the reason why this is so effective is because people focus more on the words themselves than the meanings they're supposed to represent. For instance, you can define "woman" to mean "someone who identifies as a woman", but the idea of an "adult human female" still exists, regardless of how the word that's (or at least, was once) used to denote it gets defined and redefined repeatedly via lefty word games, so that the ideologues "win" their debates.
In fact, you can even appropriate certain words instead of redefining them wholesale (like "sustainable" or "accountability"), so that people simply associate them with your cause, rather than more "impartial" connotations that don't politicize the word.
