So...is that the end of CHAZ-in-the-mountains, then? Kinda lame, even if it was always a much likelier outcome than getting into a big shootout with the feds or local vigilantes. I don't know what's more pathetic, that it ended in such an anticlimax after all their bluster or that there were apparently people dumb enough to donate almost $65k to them before the curtains came down. Some revolutionaries, I'd say they ought to go back to school but there's a decent chance that that's where they got their insane ideas in the first place.

These folks weren't even set up, and only had 65K of the 500k they claimed, it sounds like there was a sale in the works but it fell through (cannot imagine why).

You know, it occurred to me that they hadn't actually purchased the land, but what they said sure made it sound that way, so I was actually willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Would never happen. See most socialists/communists don't want this living in a mountain commune crap. They want all the benefits and luxuries provided by a successful capitalist system, but through communism instead, even though Communism doesn't actually work.
They want their iPhones and Starbucks even though they claim big corpos are evil. They want police protection even though they shout about defunding the police. They want the social safety nets that a capitalist country can afford to subsidize, which make communist countries fall apart. They want the freedom of career choice that comes with capitalism, even though communism forces you into whatever work your leaders deem necessary. They want the option to move up in life and to be able to afford better housing, better vehicles, etc..even though communism would be assigning them to slums.
They think under communism they'd be the elite that lives well, and above the rest of the plebs. They don't realize they'd be one of them too.
In fact, everything they want from communism, a regulated capitalism provides way more efficiently. Put these people in a real communist state and they'll want that capitalism back.
