Cancel Culture and Progressive Iconoclasm: The #Blackout Edition w/ extra "Guidance"

Can we speed it up? Because I'm not sure we can afford another 6 years.
Six? You'll have to face another sixty.

That doesn't mean there won't be reversals in the meantime. There'll be a back and forth, a tug of war (increasingly less "tug", increasingly more "war"). But this process -- which is the end of so-called "Modernity" -- will not be short or simple. The current establishment has inertia on its side, and the weight of entrenched institutional powers and interests. That doesn't just fall over because you want it to. Even if they have all the populace against them (and they more-or-less will, near the end)... that just means they'll dispense with the fiction of civility, and rely on brute force for as long as it can last them.

To put it in terms of this thread's topic: they'll just outright cancel democracy, before they ever relinquish true power. In still relatively limited ways (several attested in this very thread), they've already begun that process. If you want to wrest control from the elite, you'll have to pry it from their dead hands.

Which means that the current state of affairs, in broad strokes, will persist until a sufficient number of people is willing to kill and die to destroy the establishment... and (conversely) an insufficient nummer is still willing to kill and die to defend it.

So: decades, not years.

And then in the far future some child will ask.

"If they just compromised with these people all of this could have been prevented, so why didn't they just do that?"

And the teacher wont have a response to that.

Man, couldn't you just falsely assure me everything will turn out alright in the next two to three years? This is to much stark reality coming at me.

And then what would I say three years from now?

Don't despair because the road is long. Have heart, because we know the path and have the fortitude to keep walking.

Look at any other successful social movement. Like the gay rights movement was incredibly fast, and it took 45 years to get marriage equality. Now fortunately for you, you already have a base that's somewhat active, so it'll take less time than that, but still.

Also, be careful to actually dismantle your organizations upon winning and don't glorification the persecution, or they will be hijacked as honest people leave them. The NAACP has done little useful since maybe the 60s. Outside of perhaps Bostock (I'd disagree, but they wouldn't), no gay rights organization has done anything since 2015. Instead, there have been people who want to do what there idols did in the past, not realizing that the fight is over and they won, while people who actually knew about the fight stopped, because they won. This leads a bunch of young people who don't know what they are talking about being taught by grifters/crazies who stay in the zombie movement after it won, as honest people left.

Settling the promised land is a lot harder then fighting for it.

"Nobody ever taught them to share."

Now I'm wondering how a twenty-second century ISOT to the present would probably go?

In any case, I doubt bringing us downtimers up to speed with uptimer values will be easy, though considering how big a gap as little as twenty years can be, I suppose it never is.

22nd century? By then they would be an actual post modern society as in modernity is over.

These would be a people who do not want any social experiements, and very much be in favor of stability period.

At what point did I say anything about social experiments?

I'm just contending that people in the next century will find us awfully backwards and "in need of civilizing", just as we'd think the same of downtimers from the previous century. Nowhere did I claim this view had to stem from a linear sequence of continuous social change they're just further along on, as you seem to think I was implying.

I dunno I wouldn't be surprised if they start spouting off "Caesar has marked you profligates for death!"

That is a distint possibility, depending on how shit goes.

I mean pretty much every one here if we were dropped into the 1920s well our first thought is going to be time to blow hitlers brains out.

What is Francis Drake best known for in history?

Slave Trading.

According to the BBC Sir Francis Drake was a 16th Century Slave Trader so thank goodness Sir Francis Drake Primary School in London was renamed to Twin Oaks Primary School instead. Why would you ever name anything after a person whose just a Slave Trader? 🤷‍♀️
