Cancel Culture and Progressive Iconoclasm: The #Blackout Edition w/ extra "Guidance"

“Lincoln, like the presidents before him and most after, did not show through policy or rhetoric that Black lives ever mattered to them outside of human capital and as casualties of wealth building.” - Some Moronic San Francisco Public School Official

He litterally freed more then a million people from slavery, what has said moronic public official done?

On the continuing story of San Francisco deciding to rename all their schools, at great expense. The schools can't even open but making sure the likes of Paul Revere aren't having schools named after him, for reasons that are provably false, is the board's priority.

This is an interview with Gabriela López, head of the school board. What's amazing is how bad her replies to questions are. I've seen chatbots that have more varied and intelligent responses. She just non-answers. It's abundantly clear she's unused to any situation where she can't bully the other person or end the conversation and can't handle any back and forth. She seems to have no idea how to deal with a person who's asking genuine questions and can't be canceled out of asking them.

I think my favorite part is where the guy points out their reasoning is provably false, and they refused to have any actual historian look at it. Her response is that she doesn't want to have a conversation where their work is discredited. Runner up is when he points out they canceled Diane Feinstein for once replacing a Confederate Flag (which it turns out she didn't in the first place) but kept a mayor who did the same thing and asks what standards there are for that. Her answer? "I think that points to the criteria that they created and who they felt fell under that criteria." What does that even mean?

Addtional SF School board canceling and insanity:

The parent advisory board is in trouble because they can't find enough parents willing to volunteer. Currently there's 8 slots empty due to lack of volunteers but one person volunteered for one of those slots recently, and the entire parent committee enthusiastically endorsed him. He's a child psychologist, runs a non-profit education program, and is gay.

After two hours of debate about his race, in which they never asked him a question and never spoke to him directly, the School Board declined to accept him, because he's a white male and thus doesn't bring enough diversity, even though they have no gay or male members on the board currently and they have more PoC members than white ones.

Adding insult to injury, they told him they'd reconsider allowing him to join the board, if he can bring in more volunteers the add diversity. He just needs to bring them Arab parent, a Native American parent, a Vietnamese parent and a Chinese parent who doesn’t speak English. That will be enough to offset his white maleness.

Sounds like the patients are running the asylum.

Should have told them that if he wanted to play Pokemon, he would be playing goddamn Pokemon with Pokemons, not with diversity.

I think what really gets me is the requirement that the Chinese parent doesn't speak English. Not that they speak Chinese, which would at least bring something to the table, but the person needs to be unable to speak English to count. They're not asking for ability but demanding ignorance.

...Their kids are going to grow up to be absolute morons, aren't they?

I hope this hasn't been posted before:

Yeah, I've brought it up more than once that the regressive left has the same mentality as the "colonists" they despise. Naturally, they claim otherwise, but the attacks on Viking culture, and other claims that white people have no culture and the like is essentially the same mentality that led to Native children being taken from their parents to boarding schools to "civilize" them by forbidding them their language, religion, and symbols, and turning their given names into new family names so that they could be given new Christian names. And to make it even worse, it's combined with the kind of historical revisionism that brought about the "Lost Cause" narrative, and which was used against Jews and other undesirables by the Nazis, and is, of course, the same kind of thing done by the Soviets and the Maoists. Really it's not a matter of them not wanting people to have their own culture outside of the new one they have created in the name of social justice.

Its not even a culture. Its an anti-culture because its based on smashing, denying and vandalising. Its done by spiteful mutants out for revenge and low-talent sadistic sociopaths who want to cultureform society into something they can grift from.

It will fail in the end, but the sheer damage these social terrorists and arsonists are causing will put a terrible scar on our culture that will never truly heal. This is why the right needs to practice repressive tolerance against these people. Remove them from your spaces and lives and utterly marginalise them in the areas where you have power. Grant them no resources or platforms and take active measures to reduce their reach and influence.

No quarter and no remorse.

I give us around 80 years before a mass return to tradition the future will come and they will not be welcome in it.

It's racist of you to think that it will happen at a set time, reality is now multiple choice.

That's right folks, feast your eyes on this educational campaign from Oregon!

I know we've seen it before but I'm still staggered at this thing. Let me just look at the first "stride" and we'll explore how they expect math to work.

White supremacy culture shows up in math classrooms when...
The focus is on getting the “right” answer.

The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so. Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict.

Instead...

Verbal Example: Come up with at least two answers
that might solve this problem.

Classroom Activity: Challenge standardized test
questions by getting the “right” answer, but justify
other answers by unpacking the assumptions that
are made in the problem.

White supremacy culture shows up in math classrooms when... Addressing mistakes.

Instead...

Though math teachers often tout the phrase “mistakes are expected, respected, inspected, and corrected,” their practices don’t always align. Teachers often treat mistakes as problems by equating them with wrongness, rather than treating them opportunities for learning—which reinforces the ideas of perfectionism (that students shouldn’t make mistakes) and paternalism (teachers or other experts can and should correct mistakes). Identify what is right about the thinking, and highlight the mistake in what is factually or procedurally accepted. • Verbal Example: You recognized that you had to combine the constants 27 and 9, could you explain your thinking?

Note this is the first part of a very lengthy series on how to remove racism and white supremacy from math. I honestly can't comprehend how anybody thought math problems* can have multiple correct answers and it's white supremacy for teachers to correct mistakes.

*I'll grant there may be some advanced disciplines where this is true, but those aren't being taught to 6th graders,

White supremacy in math?

So according to the woke idiots Asian people are white now?

I was skimming through the 'white supremacy' issues that the first stride seeks to break down, and some of them are... problematic in my point of view.

Examples:
'Independent practice is valued over teamwork or collaboration.' is bad because it reinforces individualism over collectivism

and

'“Real-world math” is valued over math in the real world.' which is bad because either/or thinking in math reinforces capitalism (ie using money word problems bad)

and

'Math is taught in a linear fashion and skills are taught sequentially without true understanding of prerequisite knowledge.' is bad because it reinforces objectivity

And there were a number of things like 'addressing mistakes' and 'expectations not being met' that apparently reinforce power structures and paternalism, because it gives the idea that the teacher has all the answers/power in the classroom.

And... Like... Look, there's nothing wrong with telling teachers to split the students into pairs or groups, that's in fact something we did in my school pretty often. But you know what? I know the teachers weren't doing it because they wanted to prevent me from thinking that 'I'm the only one'.

I look at the list and I see someone with an agenda that is only partially focused on helping kids learn math.

Edit:
I think something that frustrates me about this, is that there are good points in the pdf files, like the fact that state standards guide learning in the classroom. It's something I've actually discussed with teachers while in high school and college, because they would have information they had to cover, regardless if they actually thought that information would benefit their students. Sometimes history teachers would want to focus on parts of state or US history, and be forced to move on in order to keep to the schedule.

And math teachers had to cover the required topics by the end of the year even if some students hadn't mastered parts of the material. It's something my calculus teacher complained about pretty often.

And then some of the examples of what to do, like in how to address mistakes, are what you're supposed to do in order to help a student learn:

'• Verbal Example: You recognized that you had to combine the constants 27 and 9, could you explain your thinking?'

So it's not like the entire thing is complete BS, but it's definitely slanted towards pushing its idea that math is currently coupled to 'white supremacy.'
