China ChiCom News Thread

China is employing its Tibetan mountaineers to mark a line on the SUMMIT OF MOUNT EVEREST to prevent climbers from the Chinese side of the mountain from mingling with those on the Nepal side of the mountain. This is to protect Chinese climbers from CoronaVirus presumably.

The summit itself can hold about six people at anytime and during the climbing season there is often a queue to access it.

Gigabyte Software, in a company blog post, slammed competitors for "outsourcing production to Chinese manufacturers that make products in a "low-cost, low quality way."'

None of these competitors seemed to have an issue with this... but the Peoples Republic of China sure did.

Toms Hardware said:
That comment was seen as an indictment of Chinese manufacturing writ large instead of a targeted criticism of Gigabyte's rivals— which is what prompted the removal of its products from the JD.com and Suning.com e-commerce platforms.

The market's response was also swift. Gigabyte's share price had fallen by nearly 10% when the market closed in Taipei, according to Yahoo Finance, which means its market value has dropped by about $550 million since the blog post's publication.

All of which led Gigabyte to publish an apology for that blog post.

Half a billion dollars lost for a since deleted single comment directed more at competitors then China itself.

Man, China loves using its slaves to defend its reputation, doesn't it?

Seems like China might be trying for the old 'fake money to push inflation' gambit.

Wonder how many packages slipped through before this one was caught.

Fake money is shipped in constantly.

I would need to see how good those are to see how easy they can get past basic level physical security

It's not like it's $20 bills, those are $100 so people generally give them an eyeball at least. If they couldn't pass that they'd be a complete waste of time.

There are more ways then the visual test.
Whch knowing China they may only go for the majority which is the quick visual check

Now matter how much fake money they print, it's still a drop in a bucket compared to amount of dollars Federal Reserves creates out of thin air by just couple of clicks.
So this is more likely to serve as financing of illicit activities. North Korea is also very prolific in this regard, but they mostly use the fakes to finance their operations in third world.

Caspian Report actually made a vide on this a couple of days ago...

Arnt super tall buildings made to sway with the wind and in case of earthquakes?

If they are built up to code and have sound designers, yes.

The quake countermeasures are usually isolation springs and what amount to giant shock absorbers in the foundations.

None of which is cheap or easy to do right.

But they still sway and all that to make it because rigid buildings don't do well in those

They might away a bit from wind, but engineers usually account for that in building material stresses.

As for with quakes...if the building is up to CA quake code, it shouldn't move much. The springs and shock absorbers are there to nullify most of the energy that quakes produce.

History Channel had a Modern Marvel's episode on this stuff way back in the day that does a good job explaining how quake countermeasures work.

bastards probably cut corners when they built the damn thing.

it's common practice in mainland China for unscrupulous real estate developers to skim off as much profit as possible by cutting corners.

Such is life, in Red China.

Excellent take on what China is actually doing.

It is very unlikely we will ever get into an actual shooting war with China, as they will just keep pushing the grey zone, and I have no trust that the US will actually do shit if China makes a move for Taiwan or anyone else.

China is in it for the long haul, and they don't have to worry about election cycles shifting priorities. All China needs to do to win is keep doing what they are doing, and let their puppets in DC hamstring any US counteractions, like Biden did with squashing the Lab Theory investigation.

um no.

China doesn't actually have time.

Their demographic situation is completely and utterly fucked and is by now irreversable for the forseeable future. Their water situation is also fucked and will hurt them bad soon, then you get into the fact that their housing is sub prime on steroids, the enormous amount of debt owned by their companies, the shadow banking issues.

Yes america has weaknesss's and we fuck up a lot but china has their own much worse problems all due to hit at the same time.

We will defend Taiwan.
That is one of the most certain things I know
