Eh, not really. Like, looking at the 2020 China tree, the Chinese don't really reach the end of their population boom for about 60 years (their largest population generation is still in their early 30s).

And I mean, if all they managed to do was stabilize the generations at about 40 million per age bracket above, in 30 years the 30-60 pop is still going to be half a billion working age adults: if the current 30-60s population is undiminished when its the 60-90 pop, that would be about 540 million. Realistically, post 60 you generally start getting quite a bit of die off, so really your talking about about 1/3 that, or about 200 million. This by modern figuring would be a support burden of about 2.4 to 1, but, well, that's also pretty normal and in line with, well, a stable population.

If China stabilized on a population of 500 million 30-60 year olds, you would expect there to be about 500 million 0-30 year olds, and probably 200 million 60-90 year olds. And, well, a china that "stabilized" around 1.2 billion, 200 million less than they currently have, would probably be a happier country.

The danger of a slightly shrinking Chinese population over the course of 40 years is I think a bit overstated. All they really need for a potentially happy country is aproximately maintaining grades about as big as the current ones.

The chinese culture is one of the most egoistic and shallow possible. Whatever they can affort to not spend on their future money-maker, they waste on shiny bitz to impress their neighbours.

This lines up from what I've seen from various source/discussions: Arrogance, duplicity, and entitlement are literally embedded in every day life.

I think,that one-child policy killed them in long term as nation and crippled as state.In 1953 they could send armies which attacked no matter how big casualties they take,becouse it was after some son alive to take care of parents.
Now? they are selfish,becouse parents doting on them - becouse otherwise nobody would take care of them when they would be old.They had no state emeritures.
And goverment could not kill old people,like Germany or Belgium,becouse of confucianism.
And selfish dudes could not create army.

Considering the PRCs tendency, like many command/communist economies, to suck-up any successes from outside investment (TenCent the most recent example) there'd be some hilarious karmic irony in the PRC getting hit with reevaluated deals by their African colonies 'business partners'.

Ok...lets go over the logistics of that.

In order for the chinese to do that they have to get past the first island chain.

Thats Japan, Taiwan and the philipines all countries with a bone to pick with china, after doing this the chinese navy has to pass vietnam, Thai land, the straits and a bunch of other countries who also have beef with them. Then they have to pass India a country that had beef over the string of pearls stratagy and after covid is fucking livid. After that the chinese navy probally needs to resply in the middle east which means picking a side in a centuries long knife fight.

Then to get at the congo you have to round the cape which has a bunch of countries who would not be happy to have china attacking a fellow african country. So the Chinese now get to the Congo, its huge and the enviroment is varies it has a host of parasites and diseases that are fucking lethal and you get to experience urban, jungle and other environments that are tough to fight in.

This screams quagmire even before all of china's enemies start funding and supplying the Congo as a giant fuck you.
