A while ago former celebrity Bette Midler tweeted the entire state of West Virginia was backwards and its citizens were "illiterate, poor and strung out" solely based on the fact that Democratic Senator Jim Manchin wouldn't support Biden's 'Build Back Better' Infrastrucutre Bill. In a measured response West Virginia Republican Governor Jim Justice brought his English Bulldog with him as he delivered his State Address and finished it by holding up said bulldog and aiming her posterior to the camera and stated "Babydog tells Bette Midler and all those out there: Kiss her heinie."

This statement received a standing ovation.

Among those watching the address in person were lawmakers, state supreme court justices and members of the high school girls’ basketball team that Justice coaches.

No comment yet on whether this statement by Governor Justice (Just-Ass?) is meant to be an endorsement of lesbianism or bestiality... or both.

Ok you want to know why?

All it takes for the democratic party to be finished and I do mean terminally fucked is for 30% of the black vote to leave. That's it that is litterally all it takes and their fucked side ways.

Their actually hemorging hispanic votes at the moment and losing the asian vote too, they lose 30% of the black vote and the party is terminal. Hence why everything is about race, because when you look at where people are naturally clustered by policy hispanics, working class whites and african americans have a lot more in common with each other then they do with the current democratic party. If that congeals together you have a natural ruling party and for an establishment party that is a shit place to be.

The black vote won't bleed from the dems by that much, they've got it locked down. More likely there will be lower participation in elections. I saw some people making a big deal out of Republican candidates winning two majority black house seats in Virginia. Well that probably happened because the white population in those areas was around 40%. So the black voter base suffered from voter apathy in comparison to the more motivated republicans. Unfortunately, on the ground local reporting isn't a thing anymore so you can't really confirm otherwise unless we get the demographic breakdown for each election.

I don't disagree with your analysis of the short term. Regarding the quoted statement, however: that 'lock' thet've got will only hold for as long as they can keep buying those votes. Because that's essentially where the hold they've got comes from: "vote for us, get hand-outs". They're not even hiding it. In some of their campaign, they literally come out and say it.

But if you take a look at the economic realities... well. That strategy won't be sustainable. And they know it. That's why they're going all-in on sowing division and race-baiting. They hope that this will be enough keep blacks and latinos on their side when the money runs out.

It won't be.

This, to be clear, is a process of decades, rather than years. But it's still pretty damn inevitable that when the consequences of fiscal/monetary/economic mis-management ultimately can't be staved off any longer, and the establishment has no more ability to buy votes, you're going to see a very broad popular opposition movement. Jake, Jamal and José are way more like each other than they are like Chester Moneybags IV, third-generation Senator from Massachusetts.
